That's interesting to me. I wonder how well a 1.4x teleconverter would function? That would essentially make this a 70-200mm f/4 right?

Somehow, i am struggling with manual focus on the K1. Personally, i think there is difference in taking flowers and taking people at different distance. :\

I've tried this combination very quickly (and also without hood, which makes a difference for some lenses).

I hesitate to give a final judgement, but based on a quick check, there is some minor vignetting and very weak corners wide open.

Stopped right down (say to f11), the problems are limited to the very corners of the image, I would personally say it is usable depending on the application (probably fine for portraits, for example) and more broadly if a small amount of cropping is applied.

One thing I would say is that rather funky bokeh (circular swirl) is evident in some cases wide open on FF. Maybe desirable for the helios fans among us!

I would really like to make a more considered comparison of this performance with the DA 60-250 f4, which appears pretty good here on FF (for my limited purposes anyway).

Nice set of works.. So how's the focusing for the HD D-FA 24-70mm F2.8 and FA 77mm F1.8 Limited on the K1 like in a studio shoot.

The bokeh on your Takumar is beautiful - lovely shots. I'm glad you like mine - the 24-70mm is incredible and locked on 100% accurately absolutely instantaneously (i.e. it feels like it focuses as fast as your human eye which focuses so fast that you don't even notice.) The FA 77 focuses slightly slower (although still pretty fast) although on that one I missed focus on the eyes in around 5% of shots. Not sure however if this was user error i.e. I just didn't quite lock on to the eye accurately enough with the centerpoint.

Overall though I'm very pleased with the results and some of the details on skin, eyes etc astounded me on the full size Raw's. The combination (gripped) is a joy to use (although feels significantly heavier than the gripped K3 and 17-70 combo I usually use. For studio shooting though I am not going back whereas for travel I think I will continue to use the K3.

+1 for the 24-70 AF being fast and accurate, it also appears to me that this lens is parfocal and does not need re-focussing when the FL is changed.
Coming from the 16-50 this is a real luxury. Has this been confirmed in the specs? Or am I mistaken?

From Friday, among the first images with the K1. 200mm SCMA ED MACRO. Glad for the tilt-screen as getting low enough for this type of shot was becoming extremely difficult (one of the reasons for getting a K1). Cross-posted image.

So far, I'm really enjoying shooting with the Pentax K-1. Some shots from the Appalachian Mountains yesterday. Not the best light, but I was still happy with how my photos came out.

Thank you for checking this. I noticed the swirly bokeh while shooting the lens at 135 without the TC, it's very cool!
Any chance you can post two images, one at 50mm, and one at 135mm, wide open with the TC on?

Seriously, every shot in this thread is awesome. Incredible portraits, beautiful examples of amazing color, sharpness, and bokeh. I have a lot of work to do to be able to take advantage of all this camera has to offer!
