The portrait of the man in the blue jacket is amazing! What lens have you used here? Great work and good edit!
Follow the Flickr link, and it says DFA 24-70 f2.8. I asked the same question previously in this thread, and felt a little silly afterwards!

A couple of shots with the DFA 24-70 (first one is pixel shifted -- full size on Flickr).

A DFA 100 macro shot (this is pixel shifted too -- full size on Flickr)

Thanks so much guys for the kind words. It was a random street portrait of this older gentleman standing outside city centre mall. Shot on 24-70 2.8 @ f3.2 I believe i used aperture priority mode. Very little editing in light room. 1 min tops. I positioned him in doorway to get some nice natural light

And I am sorry about watermarks. Twice now I've had images stolen where somebody else was making money with them without crediting me / paying me. In one case an image of a wolf was used for a calendar!
I share for (hopefully) others enjoyment and don't get paid. Putting the watermark was the best way that I could find to make sure that they are not stolen.

Here are a few photos from my side, I picked up the K-1 last friday in the morning, and in the evening, I was attending an international meeting of young circus artists... in really low light...

(all photos K-1 with DFA*70-200/2.8)

.

.

The conditions were not really ideal for photography, but the K-1 did really well regarding AF, high iso capabilities and metering accuracy.
Impressive, Dominique. May I ask what exposure mode you used most of the evening?

Great shots guys. They are too many for separate congratulations, so this goes to all! I can't wait for even more samples as we learn and better utilize the K-1!

I am loving the shots I am seeing here!

A little straight talk from an old squirrel shooter......

I am a hobbyist shooter, shoot mostly wildlife, and am not nearly as particular as many that seek constant perfection. So what does the K1 offer guys like me that would entice enough to buy the K1?

The three things I was hoping for were improved AF, better SR, and better high ISO IQ.

*First.....the AF. This is not the "going to be better" AF we have heard about in the past, this is excellent AF of the first class! It is real and it is amazing. My big 'ol Bigma a has given me fits with AF on every previous Pentax and made me learn new cuss words more time than I can recall.....in particular in low light. Now it is almost like a fast prime! Those cussing days are over! If you have been waiting for superb AF, wait no longer, it has arrived..it is real and it is spectacular!

*Second....SR. Is it really better? You bet it is!
1/60 handheld @ 500mm with the big heavy Bigma.

*Third...High ISO. So far I've gone to 12,800 without difficulty. I don't have the best software, so I think much higher is easily possible to retain great results.

1/00 handheld ISO 10,000 @ 500mm

There is always a lot of hype about a new camera.....sometimes it delivers and sometimes not so much. The K1 delivers...let me repeat it...the K1 delivers!

Am I excited? You bet I am and anyone with this camera would be too! I do not advocate robbing banks...but do what you have to. If they let you keep the K1 it might be worth it?

Best Regards!

This thread is so fun to read/browse: great shots all over the place!
I am especially stunned with the high ISO shots !!

Has anyone tried the DA*300/4 on the K-1 with high ISO settings, i.e.: above ISO1600-2000 ?

Keep 'em photos coming!

Yes - although the SR is so good, you might not need them!

Yes, the DA300 on the k-1 is awesome. I don't really think about high/low ISO using that lens, if I want to capture a squirrel in the late evening, it doesn't bother me that I'm using ISO 6400. I just use it, and move onto the next shot. I'd prefer to capture everything at ISO100 obviously, but if you're used to the K-3, then ISO 1600 is the new 200. The only downside to the DA300 is that it doesn't have the same zoom factor. For blue tits and sparrows, it's disappointing. For everything else, it's awesome

Sure. Stage photography is never easy, only a little part is lit and most is in complete darkness. I used TAv mode, so I selected exposure time and aperture, letting the camera choosing the ISO (which I raised to max at 51k for that event). That's for the exposure mode.

As for metering, one solution would have been spot metering and hold the camera on the main subject, it works pretty well as long as there is only one artist on stage, when there is more than one, and especially with different dresses, it does not work anymore. In such conditions, I switch to matrix metering and adjust exposure compensation depending of how close I zoom on the subject and how bright the subject is (depending on light AND dress), between -2.7 ... -0.7 EV. it might seem strange, but that's the way I expose in such conditions, regardless if Pentax K-1 like here (https://www.flickr.com/photos/dschreckling/albums/72157667987042396) or Nikon D5 (https://www.flickr.com/photos/dschreckling/albums/72157667510292505).

Hope it answers your question.

Is the K-1's AF an improvement over the K-3 or are you referring to the K-5 and earlier?

By the way, the squirrels and doves seem to look more 3-D and life-like in the photos taken with the K-1!
