Mail day again, this time a Takumar (Bayonet) 135mm f/2.5 for $10 that was in ugly condition, it even had a big fingerprint one of the internal elements! Cleaned it all up and now it's making lovely images.

Noel, You missed the focus on the insect
Nice shots, by the way.

Wow!
If one considers how fast these swallows move... thatīs awsome! Focus is spot on (not on the insect of course )
AF-C on the K1 really seems to rock!

Maybe with the K-1mk2 Pentax will update the focus engine to catch the insect in focus as well!

I have inside info that the MKII will easily track up to 12 insects simultaneously and also offer on the top easy dial the option to choose between "Take a picture" and "Exterminate" making it the perfect landscape camera even in harsh environments like swamps and lakes at late afternoon hours!

A few more early shots with this AMAZING camera. The DA*55 is over-represented as it is my SIngle In Challenge lens for the month of May. Bigger images (some at full size) in flickr.

DA*55

12 shot pano stitch with the DA*55 (full size file downloadable from flickr)

Pixel Shift Super Resolution with the DA*55 (full size in flickr again)

FA20/2.8 @ f/4

ISO 12800

More impressive AF and resolution.

I'll try to mix it up with different lenses soon.

Latest photos with K-1, taken with DA* 60-250/4 unless I say something else.

This one is taken with Sigma 18-35/1.8 in 21mm (FF-mode) or something, cropped a bit

A bit PP done for every shot in LR, no noise reduction tho and all photos taken in FF-mode, more to see, full EXIFs and bigger photos here: Pentax K-1

K-1 crop mode with smc DA* 300/4

Taking the 300 out with the K-1 confirmed the need for the 150-450 to regain the lost reach due to the larger sensor. This was in crop mode though so whilst it is similar to the K5 in output the larger images from the FF sensor is noticeably absent in crop mode. IMHO, YMMV etc.

Mighty fine shot!

I am still shooting mostly in crop mode and love it. My Bigma is FF but the crop mode is wonderful on the K1.

Gotta say, I am loving the excellent shots posted here! Even though I turned Pro the minute I got my K1 out of the box, I don't really seem to notice much difference in my shots....same old birds and a same old squirrels. Maybe some sort of training is required to be a Pro?

What I have noticed is that on a wet and dark morning when my old K5 series cameras and the Bigma would hunt like a hound before locking focus...if it ever locked focus.....on my K1 the big ol' Bigma is as quick as a Texas jackrabbit to lock focus and does it with accuracy. For me, after years of Bigma struggling, this is simply unbelievable...but I believe it with every shot I snap!

Dark and dreary but I got the shot!

1/100 handheld ( The new SR is fantastic!) f7.1 ISO 10,000 @ 500mm Bigma 50-500 HSM OS (OS turned off...the SR is better!)

No noise reduction in or out of camera on this one. Shot in crop mode.

Love this camera, it is a genuine winner!

Regards!
