Thx
Thanks John.
The lens is well designed to do what its supposed to do. When I had made the decision to invest in a Pentax system earlier in the year, my idea was to get a body and a 14mm Samyang and have a killer Landscape system. Since then, I have grown to dislike the Samyang's Starburst pattern. The D-FA 15-30 has beautiful Starbursts and is very sharp. CA is very low and this is a very sharp lens. My concerns are price, (Tamron version sells for $899 and has IS/VR) , and Tamron QC... in their other lenses, there is a common issue of lens decentering after some use and onion Bokeh. I have not experience that in this lens so far, if there is decentering, its very very subtle (within the margin of my informal test). Lastly, this is more of a 16mm equivalent on the wide end rather than 15mm, Tamron's FL numbers are to be taken with a grain of salt.
With all the concerns out of the way, its a great lens... period. Its gotten me some great shots, and is very sharp, I am happy with the decision.
If you are concerned about price, wait for the Irix 15mm, which seems to be an upper end Samyang. If they have given it a nice set of aperture blades, it could be a winner.... me I could not wait :-D
