Thank you very much. I actually was sinking in that swamp, and I was really happy to get one before running out. next time I'll wear my boots.

Oh, these are great, Adrian. I like the boldness of Robins - this one and the Scarlets.

What's your flash setup?
Thanks Clackers.

My flash setup is a Metz 58AF-2 flash, with Better Beamer FX-3, mounted on a Really Right Stuff flash bracket attached to an Arca Swiss plate on the lens mount (this plate also attaches to the tripod). I have a Nissin CS-01 flash cable that allows me to select flash off or on quickly (without losing its settings) by switching between 'external' and 'top' hot shoes. Flash is in PTTLHSS mode. In brighter conditions (such as the Kookaburra), I use Av mode on the camera, but in darker conditions (such as for the Robin and the Lewin's) I use M mode. In brighter conditions, set the flash at -1/3EV to avoid over exposure of highlights. Key to good flash photography is setting for a slight underexposure of the subject (using in-camera settings) and then exposing the subject using the flash settings. For birds, avoiding over-exposure of highlights often requires a minor flash under-exposure setting (such as the -1/3EV mentioned above).

Thanks for taking the time, Adrian!

I now have a Better Beamer I can use with my Sigma 150-500 .... hope to get to use it when winter's over. ☺

Few beers in, decide I want a new silly profile pic for 'the facebook'.

1. Get that new 360FGZII out in the rain where it belongs, set as wireless slave.
2. Close window.
3. Original 360FGZ mounted on camera as wireless master, bounce into wooden shelf as a "warming filter".
4. Spool up the K-1 WiFi shooting mode on my smartphone.
5. Go!

First time I've tried the wifi function, it works very well, I look forward to using it in more situations.

The DA* 50-135 and Kenko 1.4X deliver the final image.
80mm, ISO 200, f/4.5, 1/200s.

Hi jbinpg

It's a lovely shot, I am always attracted to nice colours.

When I see a pic like yours I look at it and immediately think - can it be improved. I then give it a quick once over in PS and what I come up with, I think would impress you, if not perhaps just a little bit. Would you be so gracious and allow me to post my PPed version ? I would do this only with your permission. On the other hand you can say "pee off" and I would not be offended.

Cheers
