I received my K-1 today, so perhaps this post will be indicative of new enthusiasm, rather than any worthwhile images. I’m very impressed so far.

One of the first 4-5 shots I've taken with my K-1, received this morning; using my legacy SMC M 50 f1.7, owned since 1981. Wide-open, SOOC PEF-> jpg, except for some highlight control and cropping.

In my fairly limited exploration today, I found that I often needed lots of -ve exposure compensation when shooting legacy lenses outdoors, like the P645 A75/2.8, or my Vivitar (Komine) Series 1 70-210/2.8-4.0 in native PKA fit. I measured WB outdoors using a ColorChecker Passport card and it was close enough to 5000K to use this Kelvin setting in later shots (also left for indoors shots too).

Some legacy lenses are not performing very well with flare and so on, however it could also be the Kipon P645-PK adapter. Although it cost about A$160 it’s not a genuine Pentax one and there may be internal reflections occurring.

This one focused on the green display characters using live view. A75 f2.8 wide-open

Another at f2.8, near MFD

Outside, results not so great, although it's a bright midwinter's day here Down Under. A75/2.8 at f5.6 or 6.3

Vivitar (Komine) Series 1 70-210 f2.8-4.0 PKA, f7.1, 100mm macro mode, -2 stops exposure compensation

Using the Pentacon 135/2.8 V1 with its 15 aperture blades.

Pentacon 135/2.8 M42 at f3.5 or f4

The lens on the camera:

I posted and posted over there but hardly anyone else did. Now I don't go there because it is so dead.....rumors I've heard say it is haunted?
If you like talking with yourself and a lot of peace and quiet, it's a nice site...excepting the eerie sounds of whatever haunts the place.

Seems that most that originally joined don't actually use their K1 cameras, they just bought them for decoration or to say they have one?

I use the hell out of mine.....of course, mostly in that Crop Mode which makes me an amateur and a misfit.......I don't mind, I'm pretty much used to being both!

Regards!

A very appropriate place for your photos of the Great K-1!

As Rupert pointed out, a thread that been swept into the back of the closet. Perhaps for images that turned out poorly and you hope no one will see.

Ron, that first one of the steer makes me think of the old Panavision western movies for some reason. What breed is that? The long face/snout is striking, almost like a wildebeest.
Great set of pics, thanks for sharing,
Eric

Its only 'dead' over in that thread because these guys are posting photos here rather than there.

Plenty of fantastic photos over there.

Nope...it's those eerie sounds that scare people away. Sounds a lot like a squirrel on a skewer being roasted over a hot charcoal fire.....not that I would know what that sounds like.

Yep, plenty of fine K1 shots here...and a few squirrel and dove shots too!

You can hand hold a Bigma with the K1 at 500mm 1/30 and get a pretty decent shot....maybe 2 of 3 are fully usable.

Shot wide open....move to F8 and it would be even sharper and more detailed....ISO 800 is plenty clear enough for me.

I'd post it "over there" but I'm a scardy cat and fear the loneliness and those sounds.......

Regards!

Love those FS...and shot in Crop Mode! You know I love that Crop Mode! Long live Crop Mode...thank you Pentax!

Summertime ...and the livin' is easy......

So what do squirrels do on a hot July day after a couple of cold beers?

Take it easy! (Another Crop Mode shot at 1/30 handheld...love the SR on the K1!))

What the blazes??? Either that image is very heavily photoshopped, you are one incredible photographer, or there is an abundance of magic where you live. I suspect the second. Well done!
