Handsome as ever!
Pretty obvious he is still the boss around your place!
You can post more of his shots anytime, the squirrels love him...at a distance, of course!
No doggie or kitty here...just all those squirrels and a family of raccoons that come around every night...and have for over 10 years. I knew the mama & daddy raccoon of the 4 current cubs when they were cubs themselves. Four cubs this year.
Last night as I was locking up my shop I decided to see if I could snap a few with the Bigma in the near total darkness. I was surprised that even though I could not see them in the dark viewfinder, the K1 quickly locked focus and when I heard the beep I snapped.
The IQ is poor.....not unexpected with no flash and in such a dark environment...but at least I got a few shots and learned that the K1 will indeed focus in very poor light. Had I mounted my 540 flash unit and the Tamron 70-200 2.8 these would no doubt have been decent shots......maybe tonight I will do just that?
Mama waits on the fence above while the cubs eat leftovers and dry dog food. They are very protective of their young, and not much of anything wants to tangle with an angry mama raccoon...and for certain not a big daddy that can weigh over 40 pounds and has sharp claws and razor sharp teeth. Since they know me well, they have no problem with my presence, even up close but I seldom get too close....the very musky smell is a little too much on a still hot and humid night!
One of the cubs ...."Where's the beef?"
I stayed out there a while, it is fun to watch them. Several fights broke out and mama had to get down and break them up. Not a lot different than human siblings....they do get into fights very often. Very interesting critters.....and with their very agile and human-like hands they can do amazing thing...like open my shop door if it isn't locked and go in and raid all the animal feed stored in there...it has happened more than once.
Give them a jar of peanut butter and they will have the lid unscrewed in no time.....they are pretty smart animals.
For reference here are some shots from over the years in their Family Albums
