Experimenting with K-1 and the 100mm macro

I am particularly interested in the quality of images taken at high ISO because I often am photographing animals in less than ideal lighting situations (e.g., in the basement hospital of the Wild Bird Fund) where I can't use flash.

This photo was taken outside yesterday, but because I was shooting handheld and using a fairly high f-stop (f/10) and 1/125s in some shade, the ISO floated to 5000 in TAV mode. This is about a 50% crop. In Lightroom and/or Photoshop, I did some noise reduction (can't remember exact settings), raised the shadows and did some selective sharpening (in PS, using shake reduction filter) on the bee.

Very impressed with my K-1

In the Augustinermuseum Freiburg (Germany) with the Sigma 35mm 1.4 Art:

and with the Tamron 24-135 in Riquewihr (France). Happy it was still on my shelf...

Cheers,

Ron

@LeRolls
That one got some fast "squirrel attention"......your last one was nice but the redhead was a little overdressed for the occasion! I like the setting too...out at a barn? Years ago I made a lot of hay in some barns.....just a memory now...and good ones!

Finally decided to snap on my old Kiron 105 2.8 Macro and shoot a couple of FF shots of the only bloom here this year.

I shot it out the window with the Bigma yesterday and was too lazy to go out there in the heat...

Bigma Crop Mode out my office windows @ 500mm

Kiron 105 FF shot with 540 flash unit

Kiron 105 without flash

I might like blooms better...if we had a few!

This plant is Mrs Rupert's favorite, our grandson gave it to her......but if your model will come pose for me I will snip that bloom off for her hair in a New York second.....it would look so lovely.........to heck with Mrs Rupert!

Regards!

It was at a beach on Palm Beach island. Not too many barns around these parts.

Hey, beaches work for me! Not my shot...but it worked for someone! See if you can locate her for us?

Sandy beaches...snowy beaches...it's all good!

@marinhaker - I really like that shot! Nice exposure and great composition......great color too!

It's nice enough that Otis Squirrel saw fit to make you a Site Supporter with the corresponding privileges! Enjoy!

Donations keep this place alive and well....help out when you can!

We'd all pitch in and help if we could do it like that! I've always had a weakness for blondes...she makes my knees shake and my temperature rise!

I like it.....Otis doesn't mind cars, he's eaten the wiring harness on many of them, including twice on my Jeep.
