Let me take a moment here to comment on the K1 once again. I can do that here without "offending" APS-C shooters that claim K1 users ridicule them and that we have our noses in the "air of superiority"...a claim made by a few that I have not witnessed personally and doubt it is a valid claim in any way substantive.

The Shot of Otis...one of my favorites....Well, I shoot with the big old slow Bigma over 90% of the time. For years I have struggled with slow and inaccurate focus issues. Hunting like a blind hound, you don't have much chance at a shot if you only have a second or two to get focus with a Bigma...in particular if you are a 100% hand-holding shooter. And in low light, just forget it with my previous bodies.

So what is so great about the K1 to me? I had a millisecond to pick up the K1 with the Bigma mounted and turn it on...point. get focus...and snap. Previously, I would have not wasted my time...out of a dozen opportunities like this one at least 10 would have totally failed.

With the K1 +Bigma focus was instant and the shot was captured. Highly unusual...just by chance....?? No, it was commonplace with the K1. That's not bragging, that's not boasting, that is just the pure joy of K1 shooting for me.

Surely this will trickle down to other Pentax models and everyone can have the same thrill I have....a reason for us to be even more thrilled at the introduction of the K1, and not knock it as if it is not a game-changer. For many of us...it certainly is!

Best Regards!

Once again it's the images of interiors that really grab my eye, not that the flowers aren't good. Are you using auto HDR or just working the shadows in PP?

I took K-1 with DA*300 to evening rodeo. Shot in DNG, full frame, omg, it's slow compare to K5iis burst mode. Lots of out of focus, mostly by me, I guess. I'm not sure that monopod without SR is the best solution, I shot baseball handheld better.
Prime 300mm on FF is still tight there, just like on cropped format, not a big difference, higher ISO however is liberating. I tried to shot with 6400, but also with up to 10000. Not bad.
Focus and speed is biggest issue, rodeo is fast to capture. I definitely better get zoom for that arena, still thinking about buying Tamron 70-200, it would be an ideal focal range there.
For the next rodeo I will test Tamron on K-1. Or maybe on K5.
Anyway, cowgirls (in good focus, and not that perfect)
