What a curious thing to find on a beach. Being metal, and very heavy, it must have entered the water or sand very close to where you found it. Is there a pier or some kind of loading facility nearby?
Nothing all that sexy....... the area behind the sand dunes has been flooded with recent rain..... they've installed a temporary pump and ran the outlet hose over the dunes and used two of these things to anchor the outlet of the hose...... I assume the pulleys are off a dredge that is used to help keep the River Murray mouth open to the sea (all the recent rain is doing that job now)

This is the area they are trying to drain..... levels are somewhat higher now we've had more rain from when this photo was taken a week or so ago... the beach is behind the shacks in the background

Looks like something that might have fallen off this:

Pentax K-1 - SMCP-FA*250-600mm f/11@ 500mm 1/1250th ISO 400 + Pz-AF 1.7X TC
I'd say that you've done very well with this TC attached to your K-1 and the famous FA*250-600 !
I've also kept this TC which I still use, once in a while, with K3 +DA*300/4. It actually does a better job (for me) than the Pentax HD 1.4X.
Great shot at such distance!

yes this was difficult as I was shooting with a CF monopod. I was on the shore and the ship was approx 2Km away. Due to heat shimmer there isn't all that much detail on the ship, which made focusing problematic. All things considered: the shooting conditions, lens and TC involved, the results hold up remarkably well.

Interesting that you found the Pz-AF TC 1.7x to be better than the Pentax HD 1.4x TC.

here is a 100% crop:

Pentax K-1 - SMCP-FA*250-600mm f/5.6 @ f/11 ISO 400 1/1250th + Pz-AF 1.7x TC 100% un- corrected un-sharpened crop.

The not so fast 4.4fps of K1 is just nice to capture the flight sequence of this Grey Heron

Kengoh,

Sometimes when I see images like yours, it makes me want to throw my stuff out. Superb, as usual.
