First two are D-FA 100mm/2.8 Macro.

FA 50mm/1.8
Love the moody shot with the nifty fifty. Also the 100mm is a hidden champion.

And now some pictures taken with the smc PENTAX FA 20-35mm F4 AL
(I bought this lens because of one PF member, sbh, ha-ha!)

It's my first pics taken with this lens, it seems amazing for landscapes !

I couldn't find a Lens profile in Lr though, I made one quickly.
It has strong vignetting and needs a /f5,6 for good sharpness, /f8 is stellar.

The first image is handheld at 1/50, /f16 ... and the SR works great.
I tried a /f18 for the second shot.

I've even tried a detail shot and a portrait, both at 35mm, and it's really decent too.

I've never tried this lens on an APSC body, but for sure it's great on the FF !
Nice! Thumbs up!

I'm really liking the ability of Kerrowdown1 (K1) to maintain resolution in lowish light for simple images like this.

Another image from Utah. Are Pentaxians getting weary of these? No hope, there are many more.

Love the images. Amazing.

Is it overkill to buy the three FA amigos and the 24-70mm and the 15-30mm ?? Seems like overlap.

So tempted.

Also, I'm a little woried about the 31/43/77 on the k1 because they seem not to be designed for digital?

It's definitely not overkill. The FA Limiteds have a unique rendering. While I love the new coatings, they can sometimes feel a bit clinical. Also, don't believe the 'not designed for digital' garble. If anything, Pentax designed the K-1 in part to work with those lenses. Here's a couple of casual photos with the 31 and 43:

I think there's a definite argument for the FA limiteds in addition to the 15-30 and 24-70. However in my opinion, this difference is more pronounced for portrait and still life than for landscape applications.

In particular, the FA77 gives portrait rendering that simply can't be achieved with 24-70. FA 43 is useful for environmental portraits and pets, but I would argue not quite as distinct from the 24-70 as the FA77 wide open. I can't comment on FA31, I've never tried it.

I've seen some great low light shots with the FA limiteds and this could be another area of differentiation. Size and weight are obviously a factor (as, may be, the lack of weather sealing on th FALs). FALs are applied by some (not me) for amazing street photography and this is surely another area where the unobtrusive size and unique rendering shines. Finally the filter size for FA-L is far cheaper and easier to manage!

John

Hah. I guess there's room to disagree here.

I've been so impressed by the D-FA* 70-200 that I only bring the FA 77 when I need the extra stops of light or the relief from the weight (seriously, that D-FA* lens is a muscle builder, but it's sooo worth it).
