Hah. I guess there's room to disagree here.

I've been so impressed by the D-FA* 70-200 that I only bring the FA 77 when I need the extra stops of light or the relief from the weight (seriously, that D-FA* lens is a muscle builder, but it's sooo worth it).
Heh but that wasn't the question, if you have D-FA 70-200 there's far less argument for the FA77 for sure.

If I'm taking 24-70 out, and might be doing a couple of portraits while out, I'd consider FA77 in a pocket. But in all honesty I'm more of a zoom guy (especially since the faster zooms got so good!).

70-200 is definitely worth the weight, it's an absolute gem. So no disagreement here

Thank you very much, a beautiful day, I was in the same spot for a while and the light and colours were amazing, and changing very rapidly.

A few more, here in a more saturated processing style. 24-70:

Great photos.

It must be something to do with the compression of photos on this site. Every time i looked at your photos, i kept thinking "Geez, why are his shots always out of focus?? Surely he can see that?"

But then i looked at them via their links and at full size and I saw how much nicer they are (and sharp)! I was really starting to second guess whether i should by a K1 and 24-70!!

Ahh. Okay, that perspective makes sense. I keep going back and forth on the 24-70. I know they're different focal lengths, but how do you like it compared 70-200? It's my favourite lens, and I didn't have a favourite lens before now, so I'm a little nervous that I might not like the 24-70.

24-70 is an excellent standard zoom and very dependable for landscape in my opinion, there's been some good prices on it recently as well!

I don't like the 82mm filter size, but I guess there is a 'pay to play' FF factor here. If you have 70-200 or other bokeh options and like shooting landscape then 24-70 is a must I think.

Thanks for this! The crummy jpgs are a problem of 500px embeds I reckon. I think I need to change to flickr ASAP. I know people complain about Flickr embeds but the 500px ones are frequently not acceptable when viewed here.

If anyone has any experience about which methods / sites get the best embed quality then I'm all ears!

The 24-70 is currently £799.00 at SRS. This is roughly 995$, no taxes for me since UK is still in EU. Today is the last day and I think I could go for it. I am tired of changing primes every hike and the 24-70 seems a more flexible landscape lens when compared to the 15-30.

I would definitely prioritise 24-70 over the 15-30. £799 is a great price. With exchange rate issues it's always hard to look forward but perhaps there'll be some 15-30 bargains in the future.

I hate changing primes when out in Britain, partly because it's always raining when I'm out!

24-70 plus the Samyang 14mm is a good stopgap while you wait for 15-30.

Ouch. SRS Microsystems doesn't ship outside the EU. This just rubs salt in the wound with the lack of Cyber Monday/BF discounts over in the U.S. B&H was selling two used copies for $1099, one in 9+ condition and one in 10 condition. I sent an email asking why they were the same price and got a reply saying that the 10 condition item had been sold.
