Our holiday photo this year... it's a composite of several photos, shot with the Tamron 28-75 at 28mm and F11
Image is shared from facebook, so some compression artifacts may be visible...

Great set up. Everybody looks happy, except maybe the cat., but what can you expect from a cat who must share quarters with multiple dogs?

Learning K-1

Just got the K-1 + 28-105 bundle a week ago, so still learning... I'm inspired by the great shots here.

Here's a monochrome conversion done out of necessity. Bringing up the black shadows in color resulted in a very strange red cast, so I used Silver Efex2.

It's raining here in the SF Bay Area today, so I tried a naturally backlit shot with the D-FA 100mm WR at 2.8. This was exported from LR with default sharpening (25) only. It looks like the old school OOC approach can work with the K-1 and some legacy lenses.

Great shots following this thread !

Hi all,
I've been shooting my first live music session a couple days ago, an Indian classical music recital featuring :

Nasir Aziz - Sitar
Sanju Sahai - tabla
Sarah Bertholon - Tampura

I've shot with the Pentax 24-70mm f2,8 the following pictures.
I've made a special preset and I tried up to ISO4000 and I was surprised how good this high ISO setting went.

Client wanted 3 versions of each shot, regular, Matte and B&W, here are a few sample shots.

A "Pentaxians" Coffee Roaster....K30/2.8

When Pentax didn't have a FF digital camera I thought I'd have to make one. Since the K-1 came along I've turned my creative energies to a coffee roaster, in true "use what you got " style.....(Commercial Cleaning trolley (for mobile roasting....or coffee on the go)...... modified bread maker for hands free bean agitation, hot air gun....for hot air (what else?)...... 300mm duct fan....to blow chaff into neighbours yard (he shoots canon)..... currently working on beer holder and iPad mount (for reducing Pentax forums down time whilst roasting..... and roasting refreshment). Bread machine dough hook melted...... (550C hot air does that).... so special NASA inspired bean stirrer used but not shown due to special patents pending.

My home made K-1 would have been awesome.

Brilliant ! Aussie bush ingenuity at its best.

I have an idea for your next model:

Build an over size mouse treadmill, encase it in metal fly screen and then gear it up to a 500cc Harley Davidson. (An old one cylinder diesel generator will work well too) Install heat gun to point into treadmill. Slow idle in first gear should be just right. Point the contraption with the fan towards your neighbour so chaff and sound can penetrate deeply into his yard. For best effect start a roasting session on Christmas day morning.

Cheers

P.S.
After a few sessions you will be able to buy his house cheaply.
