Adrian, that is an awesome capture of a very interesting bird! Well done!

FWIW, I used to keep Goffins... always found it comical how they were considered a nuisance up your way, and exotic over here. Smart little buggers. Mine talked up a storm, more than my friends A Gray.

Pretty amazing for iso64K !

DXO did pretty good. Do you like better than Topaz Denoise?

Very scenic, I'm cold just looking. The frost on the trees sorta reminds of infra-red look.

Love those fine shots.....made me put my jacket on and it's 82F in my office!

It was dark this morning when I first looked out my office windows. On the Cheater Branch I could barely see what looked like a fat dove or maybe a Robin...about 30 feet away. Turned to TAv and set the speed at 1/80....

Now it is not spectacular, but what impresses is that the focus was instant, even in the very low light. And even at 1/80 and hand-holding the big ol' Bigma, it stayed fairly sharp.

1/80 ISO 12,800 f6.3 @ 500mm handheld I see he wasn't interested in the Peanut Butter Tree sap...but he did bring his own little lunch!

Nothing special, just having some fun....fun is special!

Regards!

Newark Priory in the fog

I can't compete with K-amps' fog pictures, but we had a foggy day here today in deepest darkest Surrey. So I went back in time to Newark Priory...or whats left of it. K1 + DFA 24-70

I like the softbox lighting on your macro very much, might have to steal that idea, but may do a lazy mans version of it. I have a softbox type hood for my flash somewhere around here... I just hate to use it because you have to use sticky velcro on your flash and it never comes off clean... maybe rubber bands will hold it enough?

Did you have extension tube, or crop a lot, or does the ART really get in that tight? If so, wow!

Very nice set Frederick, you even make fish on crackers look great... heh.

...And, Rupert won't have to print out coloring books and give crayons to Otis anymore. Winning! :-)

Why would you have to? Especially the first photograph of yours has its very own qualities. The natural soft light, serene reflections and the old ruins surrounded by nature appeal to me with their "earthy" qualities, in a very different way than the man-made eye-candy of artificial light and hyper-modern architecture blended in fog.
