You are doing some nice lighting with her!

Just a snapper shot, but today I counted a record number of doves on the cedar fence at one time....141! More were in the trees nearby. The previous high I have counted was 132.

FS could cook up a lot of gourmet meals with my doves.....of course I'd have to kill him if he did!

Never, NEVER again! Three hours in a room with six senior professors/scientists who can ask you anything they want, anything they think you should know. Do it again? I'd rather defecate a watermelon.

Female Eclectus Parrot, Tamron 70-200mm f2.8. The male is so different - it's green - they were mistaken as different species into the 20th Century.

K-1 Action shots!

Hello everyone.

I tested the K-1 for a period earlier in 2016 but ended up returning it because I worried about the bad press surrounding it's autofocus capabilities. But I realized I was missing the fantastic image quality, low-light capabilities and just general pleasure of using the K-1, so when a good offer came up on Black Friday here in Denmark I decided to jump back onto the K-1 Wagon... Loving it!

Now on a recent trip to Brazil to visit my wife's family I tried to catch a few action shots of my kids jumping around in the waves at the beach.
It was in the evening just before sunset so the light was great if a bit sparse. I only had one WR lens with me - the 18-135, so was a bit skeptical about the results. And of course I had to use crop mode.

Even though the lens is not very sharp and of course not even meant for fullframe, I think the combination with K-1 shows great autofocus speed. Now if only I could afford the new FF zooms which apparently should have similar if not better autofocus speed.... That would be awesome

I think I got some interesting photos from a half an hour of jumping around. And most importantly the camera wasnt harmed in the process...

Ps. I didn't do a lot of processing on them, just basic auto tone in lightroom. Didn't even fix the horizon on that jumping photo....

Very nicely done. Did you use fill flash, or did you get that much shadow detail from the native file? Just right IMHO. Looks very natural. Not easy to do. Two thumbs up!

The camera is a testament to the ridiculous amount a great auto-focus system costs, and how un-necssary they are for the average user.

Based on pricing, my guess is, in a camera with great AF and fast shutter, the speed of those components is 2/3s the cost of the camera. And you're talking about a camera that costs $4-5k.

Pentax continues to play the middle of the road game, best IQ per dollar in the business, for 99% of your images.
