They are very beautiful and so well shot...but very fortunately, I won't ever get an opportunity to shoot any around here! Gonna be in the 70sF all week this first week of February .....I owe it all to that tire burning squirrel that starts burning old tires at the first frost and burns them all winter long until the blooms show up in April! The black smoke is stifling, but it is worth it to be nice and warm on a winter day!

Regards!

Grand Canyon Winter Sunrise

The Grand Canyon received over a foot of snow last week, so I headed up there to do some shooting.

This was from Wednesday's sunrise where wind chills reached near 0 F. I had to be careful not to breathe on the back of my K1 because it would form ice crystals, especially on the eye cup.

Lens used: DFA 24-70

Another image from Red Rock Country, from quite a bit higher up the section than anything at the Grand Canyon.

I'm not 100% sure, but I guess it was Sigma 15-30mm.

That air looks so crisp! Here in the tropics, we get so much atmospheric moisture and mirage it makes using a telephoto rough sometimes Nice shot.

Some here have questioned the actual benefit of squirrels burning old tires to keep up the winter temperatures.....

I offer up this FF shot with my Tammy 70-200 of my yard man and longtime former plumbing helper helper trimming limbs in the Woods of Otis this afternoon. It was 80F out there and the sun was so bright it would blind you this first week of February! Squirrels stopped the tire burning long enough for the smoke to clear for this shot. Thanks to the burn crew, I appreciate all you do!

BTW
- If you are covered in ice and/or snow, shivering and miserable, longing for those nice warm days.....I rent out my Squirrel Tire Burning Crew for a small charge...just PM me and we can work it out!

Regards!

The law is a human construct. Apparently, squirrels don't recognise it.

Looks kinda nasty.....Charlie needs to fly off to another state where he would be safer. Once squirrels "have your number" it's all over but the crying.
Found a note stuck to my window (with peanut butter) ....all it said was "Yure next!" Signed "Squirrel". Every one of the little rodents is humming this tune today....Should I be worried?

Slightly different image from Utah. Some cottonwoods still had their yellow leaves but many had been stripped by very strong winds just when we arrived. We were down in Zion Canyon during the worst of the blow so we didn't notice it too much.
