While in Palm Springs for a conference for work, I managed to head down to the Salton Sea (interesting place: California's largest lake, saltier than the Pacific Ocean, 235 ft. below sea level). This was taken from the NE shore of the lake, looking west as the sun set behind the mountains over a calm lake.

Looks as though it's filled up a lot since we were there a couple years back, You are aware that it is a consequence of human blundering.

Was out for a long walk this morning in the desert about an hour north of home and happened to take a quick handheld pic of one of the very few Ocotillo blooms with the D FA* 70-200. Overcast lighting helped, but was surprised it turned out as well as it did.
Love that shot...love Ocotillo blooms. Big Bend is full of them and when in bloom the desert turns red and is gorgeous!

I don't normally shoot blooms, we have few around my place, but I shot this with the Rokinon 85mm on a windy day and it turned out better than I expected.

Minutes ago.....out surveying the Woods of Otis on a Monday morning....

"It's a jungle out here!"

Pentax K-1 Tamron SP AF 70-200mm F2.8 Di LD [IF] Macro ƒ/4.5 122.5 mm 1/500 iso100

There is no moire or jpg, or sharpening artifacts in the original of woodies feathers at 100% view, but for some reason I see a bit here on the forum, prolly due to Flickr, forum resizing, and other posting artifacts.
Oh well... It is silly sharp and that prolly makes it worse.

For those that are curious, I've shared a link to full size below woody, and I'd enjoy hearing your thoughts.

The Pentax DA-35mm Macro Ltd actually works great on the K1 inspite of it saying it's APS-C only... Very happy.

Woody is lookin' good today...nice shot!

Time for a little Kiddie story for the boys & girls this morning.

"I was chosen to check the sap spout on the Peanut Tree this morning.....It's a tough job, but someone has to do it."

"This is dangerous work...damn good that I am plenty brave!"

"Well here I go...wish me luck!"

"Two weeks ago Chucky did the inspection, sap shot out and blew his damn head off!"

That's all folks!

Regards!

My "Single Challenges" lens is the SMC Tak 35/2, so here are the first samples on the K-1 ... first one de-saturated as an experiment in Lr4 and due to crummy overcast light ... first 3 @ f/4 and last @ f/5.6 (xpost)
