No, i understand what you mean, and I`m aware of soft portraits, but I guess when the concept of a soft focus portrait is present - you will have much less doubt if the straight of camera JPG done with 28-105mm DFA f3.5-5.6 is in focus or in shake/motion blur.

HoustonBob - this one is lot better. For heads up on K1 - please check if your SR (Shake Reduction) is on.
You can also bump up the ISO one stop to have a bit faster shutter speed. Also - you can decrease the distance/range to get a higher F stop. All this should eliminate the motion blur from the subject.

OK, you made me look that up... found some interesting info, thanks. I kinda wondered if there was more to it. Though some descriptions of floating leaves vs/ emergent leaves, leaves a lot to be desired, heh.

Lillies, lotus, and other varieties of night blooming, dayblooming, etc are all so diverse, I had no idea... very cool.

We have a tiny variety of sweat bee that infest our hedges in the summer. Not so fuzzy or nice.

Having been trained in studio portraiture for a year by a guy who made his living doing it, I don't have a problem with the image. In fact I quite like it the way it is, and if asked, I'd print it large. Portraits can be too sharp.That's all I'm saying.

Lots of things can be too sharp...there seems to be an obsession with sharpness that surpasses the value of a shot with some worth to the viewer other than just a bunch of razer sharp pixels? So far I have never heard Old Granny say....."WOW! Look at those razor sharp pixels!" Some of my favorite shots of other shooters are not sharp at all, but the shots are wonderful, they have mood, they have charm, they have laughter....they have value!

Some shots are just plain corny.....

"I'm sharp enough for my Mommy!"

Moon shots should be sharp so the 3 or 4 people in the entire world that have never seen one will be amazed.

For those like me, I saw enough moon shots by age 3.

Just so ya know, I've got my eye on you fella... still trolling that "other" forum for a backup huh?...

Your K-1 will never forgive you... I heard through the grape vine that if you get a K-5IIs, your K-1 mode dial will abandon ship, dust will attack your sensor and your anti shake will become pro-shake.

OK OK... fine... I confess, I sold my K-5 and have no backup at the moment...I was thinking a second FF, but lately I'm thinking KP for a backup to my K-1, because of what I'm hearing about its awesome high ISO performance, with those extra concentrated APSC 24MP for my long tele lenses. The K5IIs is a dandy camera, but not sure I could go backwards on AF or pixel density at this point.
