Please do! Your HDR picture looked magical, this one here flat in comparison.
Thank you for the kind words. I have been doing HDR for a long time so that is much easier. Photomatix makes it pretty easy as well. I went back a tweaked that shot a bit more. It was missing something.

Thanks man!

Here's all the camera info:
Pentax K-1 on an ancient Bogen Manfrotto 3001 tripod and 3030 head
Pentax D-FA 24-70mm @ 24mm & f2.8 (as tempting as the Rokinon 24mm f/1.4 is I just can't justify having two lenses with the same focal length)
5 shots at 25s @ ISO 2000 stacked for the sky via Smart Object Median mode and 2 separate shots for the light trails triggered via WiFi

The hardest part by far is the post processing! Even with all the tutorials out there I'm still struggling to find a look I'm happy with but it's getting there.
Ancient?!!! I have that exact bogen combo, (EDIT: woops, just looked, 3221, next model up in black, heavier, same vintage though) feels like I just got it yesterday,in 199...2? Damn...time flys...

I keep looking for a backpacking tripod to take its place, you know, collapses to under 17" and weights under 3.5lbs... cant find a dang thing I'd trust my K-1 on with a long fast tele.
Great details, thanks.
Eric

Heh, I found the tripod for free at a yard sale so I just assumed it's an oldie but it's been treating me real swell. I felt bad just grabbing it so I gave the lady $20 for hooking it up

I feel you on the backpacking tripod hunt though... I used to use a MeFoto RoadTripper and still have one lying around somewhere but much like you I could not trust the stock ballhead even with the 24-70mm on it

Unexpectedly picked up a lightly used Irix Firefly 15mm the other day - can't wait to give it a thorough workout

Nice clean background and perch.

I've neglected this FA50 F1.4 lens after I got the FA43 and FA77, in fact this lens was bought after FA43 and I only got it this year.
It's not a bad lens considering the price is cheap but has to stop down for better sharpness.

I've been happy with my Manfrotto BeFree carbon fiber tripod. I use it with my K-1 and the D FA 24-70 or the DA 60-250. I've had no issues. If I'm concerned due to wind or some other factor, I'll spread the legs to the widest setting to increase stability. I think any really light tripod is going to seem inadequate with heavier equipment. I haven't used it with the D FA 15-30 yet, but I certainly will when the situation arises. But perhaps your long fast tele is significantly heavier than these lenses.

Yeah, I see what you mean, none of the super lights are prolly going to give me a warm fuzzy. I am sure I'd learn to live with one on something like my DA*300 or Tamron 70-200 f2.8, but my Tamron 400mm F4 weights over 6lbs by itself!
