Some fun at the local park.

These cubs are so fun, you just wanna rub their belly, but even this young, they are crazy strong and dangerous. I believe they are considered potentially lethal at only 12 weeks old! (plus handling is bad for them anyway) They lounge lazily most of the day in the shade, except for a brief flurry of activity mid mornings.
Pentax K-1 smc PENTAX-DA* 300mm F4 ED [IF] SDM ƒ/5.0 300.0 mm 1/400 iso400

I was in manual and totally blew the highlights on several of these coming up, when he ran out of the shade and into the sun... happened so fast I didn't notice and didn't have time to chimp a histogram. Lesson learned, shift to TAV before the action starts... Even in Photoshop I could only recover so much.

Guess these are worth sharing...even with blown highlights... still cheeses me off, but a good lesson for others if nothing else. Yeah, don't do be like me. Doh!.
Think it hurts when he bites moms ear?

Three bird shots taken at the St. Augustine Alligator Farm.

Using the Bigma with the K1. Performed excellently!

Revisited one of my UP844 images this morning. B&W seems very appropriate. I think. K1 handheld 1/500 @ F/5.6 ISO 100 with SMC FA 50mm F/1.4

K-1 and DA*60-250, my festival walk around lens. The philosophy of the day was ƒ8 and be there.

Getting into it.

Nice set!

Was the maple syrup king Tyler Vernon there?
(That was just for Scifi fans)

Glad you are OK. Looking at other people's shots of big bend, it looks like you are in for some pixel shift wide angle heaven! Can't wait to see what you come up with.

Bringing your best primes and tripod right?
I hate to disappoint (but I'm used to it!). I took only a handful of K1 shots at Big Bend. The skies were mostly very hazy and ugly and we only stayed there a very short time before we left for other areas in the far corner of SW Texas. Mrs Rupert was busy with the Toy Camera X20 and did manage some decent shots, but the K1 saw little use. It was more a driving vacation than a photo opportunity trip anyhow...but I was disappointed that the skies were not their usual clear and photo-ready marvels.

Got back in time to find that Raccoons have invaded the squirrel feeders and taken over the place. I hear there were some epic battles and squirrels are regrouping for a full assault on the renegade raccoons?

"Gotta watch for the squirrels...I hear they bought automatic weapons?"

"I think I see one over there hiding behind the bushes, he looks kind of angry?"

"My razor teeth will make quick chunky-squirrel hash out of him."

"Shut my mouth! Did I say that?"

Good to be back around here...home is always the best place! The trip was wonderful, but so is home! Now I will spend a while today catching up on what you guys have posted this last week.

Best Regards!
Rupert

I'll give you an A+ on all of those FS....seems you have improved greatly in my absence last week? Maybe I need to hang out somewhere else and let you guys alone....there are some mighty fine shots on this page!

I never thought of it! I think the disappointment in the skies just killed my shooting desire. Maybe Mrs Rupert yelling out all the time "watch your driving, that is a 1,000 foot cliff on the right you almost just ran us off of" had something to do with my mood too?

She did take a lot of Toy Camera shots..... Rupert's Album: Big Bend Trip 2017 - PentaxForums.com

Maybe I was just missing the squirrels? For whatever reason, I was not in a shooting mood, but I had fun anyhow!

"Were you gone somewhere last week?"

"Gee, we never noticed!"

Truth is...the K1 is for shooters like most of you guys/girls here, not old squirrel shooters that sit behind a desk most of the day and shoot what shows up outside my windows. However, that doesn't stop me from loving my K1 and the great performance it delivers for those more capable!

Regards!
