Originally posted by jabobby Eric, I can only begin to tell you & others how much enjoyment this K-1 is giving me. That last photo I posted of the side profile of the butterfly on the flower is beyond what I ever imagined I could do with a 70mm lens, not alone a zoom and handheld yet. To say that I am thrilled is putting it mild, every day I look forward to trying to capture a good image. The furry woodland creatures are not cooperating very well, but I sure hope to get some good shots of them.
Best Regards, Bob
It is not often that things go according to our plans or hopes, but it sure is nice when it does, isn't it? You are making progress in leaps and bounds, and good equipment to start with makes it fun. Many of us (myself included) get too hung up on acquiring more toys, when the toys in our bag can do more than we have time to use or learn to use properly. I think we just get bored or look for inspiration in the excitement of the new gizmo. My old teacher told us to stick with the stock 50mm and not buy anymore lenses until we mastered it first. He was a pretty cool photography teacher... taught us how to "see".
Years ago... for a period, my idea of the ultimate kit was a Leica CL (made by Minolta I think) and the holy trinity of primes, the 21, 40 & 90mm little Leica lenses. You could go anywhere and do anything except birding with that combo and be happy as a clam back then. Time's change, and so do our expectations, heh.. If someone ever told me I'd have a Full Frame Digital Pentax and a range of lenses from a 17mm fish to a 400mm F4, I'd have told them they were smoking whacky backy.
Thanks for the note Bobby, glad you are having fun!
Eric
