It is a sort of slate, very common in the north of France, Belgium and Luxembourg...

Spinning Wheel (DA *55)

Nice shot. An Ashford spinning wheel! I like the new style wheel in an old looking setting. I did a refurb on one of these a few years ago. A friend of my wife got one in need of some TLC for free a few years ago. I got it running for her so she could learn to spin. My wife sews, spins yarn and weaves. Been at it for almost 40 years now. So I have learned quite a bit by association. I wonder how many people on this board who knows what a batten handtree is?

While on the road recently, I noticed a lot of lightning going on. I had my K-1 with me so I tried to capture some of it.
Wow!
And I was happy with the few lightnings I got on holidays! (not edited yet..)
That looks absolutely stunning*!

Edit: that horrible pun was not intended

K1 + D-FA 150-450. Totally impressed with this lens on the K1. Wide open and ISO 3200.

I think Ansel Adams would have been proud of that.

white butterfly

Scorpio7CGR, terrific red panda shots, what a beautiful animal & I love that red color.
Patriot, real nice shot of the Golden Sunrise, you put fresh batteries in the ducks.
sculptormic, I like the shots of the house, what an awesome setting.
Frederic, slate shingles were common here in the late 1800's and early 1900's, my parents home had a slate roof. In certain areas some homes can be found with the roofs & sides still in good condition, depending on exposure to the elements.
Bruce Banner, Love that first shot of the Nepean River and awesome B&W of the bridge.
Rondec, nice tiny water fall shot
Eric, incredible shots of the Kobuta bird, love that color
gaweidert, I am jealous of your education by association. Have always been fascinated with spinning & weaving. And I for one know not what a batten handtree is but I have put up a few batten boards.
pschlute, fantastic shot of the deer, I also am totally impressed with that lens on the K-1
Franc, superb bird shots.
Normhead, great shots as always, I really like the sharp crisp first one.
This photo of the white butterfly on the field mustard flower was taken with the 150-450 lens and I am so amazed at the sharpness & detail obtained. First shot FF, second with close crop & third with super close crop. You can see the structure & texture of the wings and the fine feather edge.
Best Regards, Bob

You take my kind of trips. Very very nice work. You really transmit the peace and tranquility of the time away.

Can you tell I'm ready for my next vacation? Can't come fast enough, heh heh.

I love the red pliers! Reminds me of the ever present red or yellow National Geographic umbrella we used to joke about in class! Awesome find!

I am starting to see a style in your sunsets and rises, and it's hard to describe but it's like you have mastered the golden silver sunset effect. Nice!
