Very true, much of landscape photography is being in the right place at the right time. I heard a professional landscaper say once that the most important piece of gear to a landscape photographer is an alarm clock. I tend to agree (though of course that doesn't apply to sunsets). There is definitely a good deal of luck involved, but as they say, luck favors the prepared. On this trip, we planned our route and camps with photography in mind. I'd scouted this location the prior evening, so even though the light surprised me when I turned around at this particular moment, it was not entirely unplanned. Regardless, it was awesome to be there, with or without a camera.

Great colors!
Thank you - though I can't take any credit for that

I like the framing of that photo. Also impressed by the clarity of that photo done with a FA20 (that let me thinking that the big DFA15-30 without CPL may not deliver as good as the one you did).

Your dog is a loyal model, looking at the camera kinda thinking "and one more portrait.. lets do the natural dog pause and not move until that mirror slap sound happened".
Did you keep the mushroom macro settings for the dog portrait? Aperture was f11 and shutter speed 1/8th sec. That one is slightly blurred, won't make it onto the front page of "Canadian Dogs" magazine

Thank you for your kind words.

I'm quite happy with the performance of my FA 20mm f/2.8 ... The polarizer is useful up here at 6000+ feet to reduce the desaturation of colors caused by our very bright sunlight. Not as useful for sky darkening as 20mm is a bit too wide.

Tomorrow I will have my IRIX 15mm F/2.8 I will be very curious to see how it performs. ;-)

cheers,
Rick

Thank you for the kind words. My decision to purchase the Blackstone 15mm is in no small part due to the great images you and other members have posted here. The lens will be here within the hour. Really looking forward to using it with my K-1.

Wow, all great, and I like that last building... did you do subtractive color on the building and surrounding area? I don't always like that effect, but that really worked for this shot!

You really worked that lens for those. Very nice.

I don't know if it is the lens or your polarizer, but those colors really pop. Nice and sharp too for an old wide lens.

Forgive the play on words, but that really is Super.
