I have visited Havana recently. Although the city is spectacular, I was pretty much unhappy with many of my shots. Lately I have been shooting pretty much only landscapes from a tripod, I thought I have good technique but it just shows how difficult it was for me to get out of the comfort zone. Most of the time I wasn't careful enough with the shutter speed so moving cars appear blurry in pretty much all the shots, even in daylight. I guess I should have used TAv mode instead of Av in order to ensure the proper shutter speed. Not to mention composition problems. I will try to pay more attention next time and hopefully I'll do a better job.
Anyway, here's a few pictures from the Revolution Square (Plaza de la Revolución). In the first one, there is the José Martí Memorial which features a 109 m (358 ft) tall tower and an 18 m (59 ft) statue. Located behind the memorial is the Palace of the Revolution, the seat of the Cuban government and Communist Party.
Opposite the memorial are the offices of the Ministries of the Interior and Communications. The Ministry of Communication features a steel memorial of Camilo Cienfuegos (sometimes mistaken for Fidel Castro), with the quotation "Vas bien, Fidel" (You're doing fine, Fidel).
The Ministry of Interior features Che Guevara, with the quotation "Hasta la Victoria Siempre" (Until the Everlasting Victory, Always).
More to come.
