Great shot. Is it about flowers or birds? As I view the composition, that is the thought that pops into my mind. I have finally decided that the photo is about flowers, and the bird just happens to be there. :>)

Superb picture, like your previous one of the bird on the same flower/tree.

That little dog is an absolute scream Our Sheltie has a problem with eye-mouth coordination. She cannot catch a tossed treat, and rarely can keep a stuffed toy from hitting the ground - when she's in a mood to play fetch, which isn't very often. When she was a puppy, she'd chase those small-diameter tennis balls and a small cloth Frisbee, but she gave up on both before she was two.

I agree with Wpresto... your pooch is a hoot. Yours, Bob's Nachos, Eagle M's fine looker and others all are a welcome sight on here. I just wish I could get our little bundle of boundless energy and joy, Ariel the 15yr old Yorkie, to be a bit more camera friendly. I swear, when I point the camera at her, she looks at me like something she just kicked dirt over with her hind feet.

If she can't eat it, play with it and shake it to death, or sleep on it, she has zero interest.

Eric

autumn time

ozlizard, stunning photo, nice work.
Eric, thank you. Looks like Zegaby is giving you some stiff competition with that wonderful 100 macro. What you say about the dogs seems to come with age with most. Goofy Nacho chips is 12 and thinks she is 4. Do not think I ever had a dog live with me before quite like her, guess it's the chips BTW, if I did not already say it, love your recent flower shots with the flash.
acoufap, thank you very much for the compliment. Actually chasing livestock around is a wee bit worse than chasing butterflies, they keep on a moving.
noelpolar, incredible image, fantastic.
Penn-A, nice catch of catch.
Frederic, looks like you started an epidemic with that fancy lens, even I am considering the benefits of that Irix. Kinda like the name and I bet it would be great for astro shots.
Here are some late autumn shots, one of the farm on an overcast day when colors are not washed out; a shot of colors on color; and a couple from out & about on the back roads.
Best Regards, Bob

Sky washed by rain and storm today evening. Only a few minutes ago. Clear and cold. On a walk with my wife we see the moon in that clear sky. Bigger than usual.

When we arrive at home I take the travel tripod, K-1, DA55-300PLM plus DA TC 1.4x. PLC filter attached to get rid of the slightest atmospheric haze.

Set the rig up. K-1 in APSC mode, DA55-300PLM+DA TC1.4x@420 (angle of view equiv. 642mm@FF), focusing in live view, ES and take some photographs. After the shots are done I develop the dng files as usual in Capture One Pro.

The images imo show what the DA55-300PLM can deliver in such cases if conditions are good ...

K-1 • APSC mode • DA55-300PLM + DA TC1.4x@420 • ISO100 • f/9.5 (open aperture) • 1/40s

Two 100% crops ...

Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 DG HSM. Was thinking about buying the Pentax but can't see much point really.

Been trying out Topaz Studio & plug-ins for a few days now. Probably overdid it on these flowers a bit. Going to take some practice, but I think I'm going to like Topaz.

I also am using the Topaz studio and like some of the offerings. A few are a bit over the top for me, but some are useful such at the paint options. Enjoy.
Fellow Topaz user here. I tend to launch Topaz from LR rather than use their Studio. I fire the raw file up with LR, make some base adjustments (Iris Enhance, Highlights, Shadows etc) and then typically end up with visiting 'Topaz Clarity' for shots taken wide open. I usually punch the subject out more (with something like 'House & Lawn' or 'Micro Boost 1') and then use Mask feature to revert everything else (except the subject matter) back to how it was before (Edge Aware is very useful).

Here's an example, a before and after (Topaz on the right);

I also enjoy the Topaz B&W as well, has a large set of presets some of which I find are great straight outta the box. I also like to use the Transparency tool to bring a low level of colour and saturation back into the picture whilst then using Local Adjustments to 'colour' the main subject/s back to full colour, makes for an interesting colour pic whereby the subject matter is a tad more punchy.
