Eric, The transition with respect to many things is indeed incredible. When I have visited cities or looked at photos on here showing the old cobble stone streets, just wide enough for a cart or small wagon. Then I look at highways & traffic now!
Communication has really gone crazy. Several of my neighbor friends are in their 80's & 90's and they often remark of how things were done when they were young. How many young people know what a threshold is, not alone know why it is called such. Even for folks like me born in the mid 1940's or folks born in the 1950's have seen an amazing and grand amount of change. I really enjoy seeing the photos posted here of the old buildings, streets & farms in the old parts of other countries. The architecture & structure of the past is something to admire, and the labor required is unbelievable. Enough of that, I could go on for hours but will stop.
Frederic, love the red sweet gum leaves & the orange sky, nice shots.
Kerrowdown, I did not know they were traditionally black. I have read that the island cattle were cross bred with the Highland ones to eventually become what is around now with mostly traits of the Highland. They are a handsome hairy beast.
One last comment: in about a hundred years we went from some paintings having the appearance of a real image to having some pictures looking as nice as a painting. Just a silly thought of mine.
Best Regards, Bob

Have you taken it down, or is it not public in Flickr?

Do you mean what would be the world if Leonardo Da Vinci had a K-1 ?

, read your post on "The Bokeh Club", I totally agree with your comment. No matter the form of communication be it written, photographic or audio your statement applies. It can be a simple or complex message but the most subtle change can often make a difference in presentation and hence interpretation. BTW I love your modified macro & the photos. Opens up a new use for my old lens, thanks for the info.
Quite right, as we often can observe - communication seems to be something very complex and multilayered. Sender, receiver and their interpretations are sometimes a mystery to me. Everybody comes from somewhere else and is characterized by his own experiences ... Although I own a great macro lens I generally like to find out what I can do with the gear I have and like to share it with others. Always appreciated if they like you benefit from my ideas and mention it - thanks!

For some reason it doesn't want to display the 800px one but if I change to the 1000 then it shows. Weird Flickr hiccup, I think.

I don't think so. It did display in Chromium, but not Firefox here. In Firefox, I can't even see a network request going out for it in the developer console. Displaying it in a separate tab using the same URL worked though ...
I hope to get around to investigate some more and will post my findings in the appropriate sub-forum.
