Thank you for the kind words, yes been in the Pentax camp for awhile but the K1 has been a great step up.

I'm still trying to master the HSS with my K-1 and flashgun, yesterday a small bush walk down to the gorge on a bright sunny day provided me with an opportunity to test it out, shady hats hide faces after all;

I believe my settings were -1ev in camera and -1ev in flash. 540II was the flash and Fong diffuser attached but dome removed, flash aimed straight at them but from the side with the aid of a vello cord.
