Hattifnatt, Eric said it well, many of us I am certain are grateful that you did go and take those great photos.
Thank you both. Two more from the same spot, as soon as the sun has set, moon went up to do some posing herself.

More mountain scenery... Here is a 20mm vs/300mm view I thought was kinda interesting. (minor cropping just for screen HxW ratio)

I haven't posted on this thread for a while. Had to go back to the Utah trip for some unused images. K1 + 12-24 Sigma.

I like the image but the white balance looks far too blue to me. Try nudging the white balance sliders to the right.

I'm curious if you have a full res image available somewhere? I wanted to see how much detail this lens produces since I found out of it's existence I remember it being on sale for under $500 few months back

The image posted has quite a bit of PP including substantial perspective correction. My impression of the Sigma 12~24mm: 1) very good to excellent at the center; 2) not good at the edges, both poor IQ and distortion; 3) prone to CA as are many many lenses from the film era; 4) convenient. I sold mine (had purchased it as a new, unsold left-over from a camera store in Canada). I now have a Venus/Laowa 12mm SFL that I think is much better in pretty much every respect except convenience. I'll try to post the unprocessed original plus some crops when I get over to the other computer.

Ok thank you! I was just curious, I already purchased the DFA 15-30 so I should be (hopefully) fully protected from craving another UWA lens for the rest of my life

awscreo: in sequence below of the image you asked about. The original was taken @ 16mm, ISO 400, 1/1000 f8
1) the image as posted
2) the original, no PP
3) crop from center
4) crop of tress along left edge
5) crop of tourists along right edge
6) crop of top center
7) panoramic crop along bottom left.

As you can easily see, IQ varies enormously, quite good dead center, rather poor along the left, somewhat better along the right, but generally not very good around the edges.

Excellent pictures both. My preference is the first one...has more of an aura of mystery.

That Sigma is known for what you wrote. The main cause though is a very strong field curvature, where the edges/corners' "focus plane" are much closer to the photographer than the center.
So lack of sharpness automatically comes when you want infinity focus in the center and also have edges/corners in infinity.
Somwhat similar to the DA 15.
