I did some small tweaks on the exposure; contrast & highlights and this looks much more appealing to me. Please tell me what you think
To my view it looks better. I dont like grey snow ! But it is a personal choice as it does make the picture look less moody. I would even go a bit further. here is an attempt I made.

That Frederic guy is a hard act to follow... but here goes anyway.

It's not easy being green, unless you are next to a waterfall.

more yard deer

teiki arii, thank you for the feedback, and your photo is beautiful ancient architecture, great shot.
pschlute, interesting that you did that, after posting that new version I went back & looked at the image in LR and it looked different. I noticed that when the image is converted from DNG to JPEG the brightness is toned down a wee bit.
I agree about not liking gray snow but some times that is the natural shade. Of course a photographer should do as any artist and make the presentation more pleasing to the taste of the viewers. Several friends & I gather to view our latest photos and I love the fact when folks are open minded and provide opinions as you have done. Thank you again & I like your modification.
Rondec, love that Ripper shot.
Frederic, holy cow...awesome building shot, really like the contrast of the old & new architecture; and very nice country scene.
Eric, to me that log shot is just terrific, guess I am partial to logs & moss and it is nice to see some green stuff...
pinholecam, superb photo.
first photo, here they come saying where is the peanut sap.
second photo, that youngster found it.
As you can see the snow is different shades, first shot taken several days ago earlier in the day with more light; second shot today & very overcast & 20 minutes later in the day. Guess I could have pumped up the light a bit.
Best Regards, Bob

The property of relativity: when I view my RAW photos on LR the surrounding is neutral gray; when I view the JPEG image in a folder or posted on the forum the surrounding is white and the image appears toned down. I believe the image brightness is unchanged, it simply appears changed due to the surrounding color. Just thought I would throw that in...
Best Regards, Bob

Thanks, looks like you're having a proper winter yourself And I bet that soup didn't taste too bad after the skiing!

Then again, there can be too much winter, too
