Do you think in those instances it's worth lowering the EV value, to say -2.0? It would mean you can't chimp at all (black screen) but when back at base and in front of LR, lifting the exposure up should in theory give you a lower ISO and hopefully less noisy looking image? (shooting RAW of course)
I just checked and I did kept my EV compensation to zero for all this event, but sometimes when lights are changin fast on a stage I use EV compensation for slight corrections.
The venue just got back to me, after about a month of waiting for their clearance, and unfortunately they did not allowed me to use my fav pictures from this set.
The deal was pretty clear, I couldnt use any of my pictures without the Venue's art director approval (and the dancer approval as well but she hired me so she was not my concern and she acted like a real pro anyway).
It's very strange because they, IMHO, did not pick up the strongest pics, in fact Out of 14 pictures I sent for review they picked up the ones I consider the weakest.
The last picture was taken backstage before her make-up. I used a Godox AD200 (low and on her left reflecting on a mirror) with a thin CTO gel.
