timautin, the Windorah & Baldy Top scenes are extraordinary, nice captures.
acoufap, terrific shots with the DA 55-300.
Tas, good photos again at that motocross.
Frederic, your 1st shot is really cool; 2nd makes me hungry; 3rd shot strange...

LeRolls, Christopher, you never fail to provide me with sweet dreams, and here I am after midnight posting right after you...

Today decided to go outside and practice some hand held shooting with the A 645 120mm F4 macro lens. If I can manage to nail the focus I should get some pretty good captures with this old beauty. All shots were taken with aperture at f11. With this lens mounted on a 645 film body the minimum focus distance is 39cm, approximately 15 inches. Mounted on the K-1 the min focus distance is about 1/2 that. The sea shell shots were all taken at about 7 inches away with camera mounted on the tripod. Up that close the DOF is only about 4mm @ f8 or f11 which does not leave much margin for error. I am really looking forward to having a great time with this lens.
The first shot of the rhododendron bud was from a distance of about 11 or 12 inches.
Second photo is a close crop.
Third shot of the weeping willow bud was from the same distance of about a foot.
Fourth photo is a tight crop.
Fifth shot of Natchez was taken from roughly 15 feet.

Your last shot here is gorgeous.

I haven't been to the outback since '99, all I recall was for days being bombarded by the colours Red, Green and Blue, here you capture that perfectly. Such a fascinating place isn't it. At the time I was used to the grey 'dreich' of sky and concrete of Edinburgh (which is it's most typical display

), so to get those vibrant and powerful green, reds and blues at the time was very alien to me.

After that 3 hours climbing I sure find this this lens to be superheavy!

I know what you mean, I carry around the K1, the 24-70 and the 15-30 plus filters and I sometimes feel like a donkey

At f .8, I am surprised the background does not show more bokeh. That is truly an amazing lens! :>)

So, when I moved the opposite way what struck me was the softer light and GREEN.

To me rain has connotations of hope, freshness, nourishment etc.

"There are whingers here" needs to be written on the maps. BTW: just been having a few dreich days in the south of England.

Ah ah that's the weather we've had most of the time (+ rain) since we're back to France, so depressing!!

One thing almost all old cars had was ground clearance. Rarely see that much space below an axle even on a modern SUV. You have to go to 4X4 pickups. But then again, the roads have changed profoundly.

I tend to prefer this version of the image, portrait mode looks better to me.
It's not the same picture, it's another shot though.
