Originally posted by BruceBanner Yeah I'd say so. It depends what you shoot at, like I say certain scenes I just leave it as is, especially if I have cropped for composition and perspective reasons anyway. I guess it damages the image if it is a shot where there isn't much going on (like this sky shot) and you can't crop etc, tricky to correct in post perhaps. I wonder if anyone has a LR profile for it already, someone who has managed to correct any distortion and vigenette effects to a better degree (for full frame that is)...
It also depends on the amount of cropping you do... if I crop off-center, then I think the best course of action is to remove distortion and vignetting as much as possible, and then dial in some post-crop vignette (it's there for just cases like this).
There's a way to create lens profiles, but it's time consuming, and requires a precise set-up. I'd have done with something simpler, even if a little less accurate.
For my smartphone RAW I just shot a white sheet of A4 paper under uniform light (near a window), then tried varying the settings (amount and midpoint) and checking the corners and the center with the eyedropper, until I had RGB values within ±5 of each other.
That sky picture of yours... I don't know... it looks like it's brighter in the lower portion, but it could be many things.
