It's lovely to hear of someone coming over to Pentax having experience on other brands and certain features seemingly falling behind what Pentax can succeed at. There's often too much talk of the AF being naff and people leaving Pentax to go to Nikon or Sony, so it's nice to hear some stories the other way around and from different feature perspectives
I also have a Nikon D7100 which I use for wildlife/birding mostly because of the excellent 200-500mm 5.6 lens (which is actually the only lens I've for this body ). I have not yet compared AF abilities of both bodys as I use the K-1 mostly for landscape photography. The few shots I did with the K-1 using AF turned out good and the biggest problem in the beginning was fine tuning the lenses. Maybe I will try out the 150-450mm and a Pentax APS-C body at some time in the future but at the moment I'm absolutely satisfied with my current equipment

This was shot with K-1 and DFA24-70@70mm and f/2.8:
IMGP1327.jpg

Perfectly sharp so I can't complain about AF until now and I think it depends more on the user than on the camera.

The DA*300mm can do some interesting bokeh near wide open and up close if you push it hard enough...

Taken with the Pentax M-28mm /f2.8.
This little lens that I bought for €10 is really nice and quiet sharp.
I am forcing my self to use a 28mm lesn to see if I can get with the 28-105mm, Im afraid Ill miss the 24mm from my 24-70 for landscapes.

It is 11PM and still hot and humid. Sitting in my non air conditioned house not even wanting to go to bed. Somehow looking at this makes me fell a little more comfortable.

A few more with the Irix 15/2.4

These were shot at f8, but are fairly convincing evidence (if any was needed) of the quality of this lens.

Straight into the sun, with little flare, but a few artefacts:

The reflection pool at the Royal Botanical Gardens, in Hobart:

The view over Hobart to Mount Wellington. The last time I shot this was with the smc Pentax 28/3.5 Shift, stitching three photos using the horizontal shift. This has less CA.

The First Post

K1 Mk2 has arrived, so with not a little trepidation I post the mandatory first shot in this august company.

Did a couple of test chart shots to check AF point, decided no adjustments were necessary. Good start.

Dusty my little mate who is never far from my side decided to photo bomb the shot, normally he avoids the camera. Lens is an old plastic fantastic SMC F 35-80....it will get some use.

And the sunset was kind. Lens is Sigma EX DG F1.8 which will probably be one of my go to lenses for wide.
