Thank you, but you can hardly miss taking scenics in Utah.

And I really like your first image = mongoose(?) portrait.

Erictator great bee shot

Da*300

Thanks for the comments! Some nice dangerous critters you got these, really like the greens on the snake. I also find myself using my DA*300 as a semi close up lens a lot too... great for when you don't want to get too close!

*Note: I've been wondering (Comments welcome here!) if I found a cheapo SDM compatible 1.4x or whatever TC and knocked the glass out, could I use it as a close up AF adapter with the DA*300mm? The only trouble might be finding one thin enough, because I notice the large (25mm?) in my current macro extension tube set for my MF lenses makes my 135mm lens not only focus closer as intended, and lose infinity focus (expected), but actually narrows my focus range a lot more than most people might expect, I can't focus beyond a couple of feet with the extension tube on, so I'd have to find a really thin TC. Why would anyone want AF for macro? Sometimes the bugs move fast! Heh heh.

I second the praise, love the Utah scenics... maybe it's because I get tired of my local tropics?

go down to the last item in that list, about combining your sequentially posted items into one single post and de-activate that item.

BTW: I only discovered this a few days ago, and thanks to another Pentaxian for reminding me. I probably had activated the combine option when I first joined PF, but that must be at least a decade back. At this stage of my life, I struggle to remember what I had for dinner ten days back, and generally fail
Testing your advice, it seems to work! But why do I now feel like a major spammer?
Thanks!

Haven't heard from you in a while Ken, nice to see you posting. Now that the K1 MkII has been out a while, any comments on your newfound ability to do less noisey high ISO concert shots on dark stages? Or just letting your work speak for itself? ( it would speak louder for itself if you had Exif or posted all the settings manually, not just the lens, heh heh)

Two different views, same flower*.

smc PENTAX-DA* 300mm F4 ED [IF] SDM ƒ/5.6 300.0 mm 1/125 iso160

smc PENTAX-DA* 300mm F4 ED [IF] SDM ƒ/4.5 300.0 mm 1/200 iso100

*You may be wondering how there is motion blur on the back stems, but not the flower? How do you get 2 different backgrounds? Easy, I CHEATED!
It was windy, and I had grabbed the base of the subject flower with my left hand, moved it and held it steady (no easy task, one handing the K-1 w/DA*300, especially with it's minimum focus distance! heh heh )

Thanks Dave, and did you mean hills views? Yeah I'm a bit inland, but still commutable to the coast for a day trip if need be. I live in the Blue Mountains so am blessed with valleys, cliff faces and waterfalls as well as bush and rainforest like walks.

Jervis Bay was a 3hr drive, so we stayed two nights down there, a catch up with some friends who have recently relocated there.

I've been working all the time, but struggled with the energy and enjoyment lately I think it delivers good on high ISO..AF-C is a bit better too..But fps and buffer seems even slower Oh well

VERY pretty, and steadier hands than my well-caffeinated paws*. I have a slight preference for the second version with a darker background. I think the flower stands out a bit better.

*That reminds me. I haven't had my midday cappuccino.
