Yep, another yard flower

Actually a blossom on the Great Laurel bush, but still in the yard...

Thank you for your comments, glad to know I'm contributing to your LBA......

My only regret, is not getting it sooner, my wife finely convinced me to get it - she's wonderful !! My biggest concern was having to use a tripod (though I do carry one) all the time with it, which would really hamper my style. But the weight is very manageable while hand holding it and seldom use a tripod. But do need to keep shutter speed at least 1/250 and a solid stance for best results.
Totally agree with your saying this lens is quite manageable, the only time I have used a tripod with this lens was for a couple of moon shots. If you look at that Catbird photo I recently posted it was shot @ 1/200 and I held my elbow tight against my body, and got lucky with that. Almost all my bird photos were taken @ 1/1000 which as you stated certainly produces better results.
Best Regards, Bob

DFA 24-70 with 3 stop Reverse ND Grad (Breakthrough) - 33 image panorama. Taken 10 min earlier than the one posted yesterday, interesting how different brand lens and filters produce different colors.

longbow, that's a hard act to follow.

Last night's sunset with the K-1 and A 35-105 f/3.5 Macro.

This little fella was in a dead tree as I was hiking along in the woods... caught my eye with his Larry the Lounge Lizard expression. It was back lit, and in partial shadow...so I grabbed a few shots, exposed for the highlights with a - 1/2 stop & hoped for the best. A little shadow tweaking and I am pleasantly surprised. The K-1 always seems to deliver in difficult lighting.

Shooting nearly wide open, the DA*300 still kicks butt... this is the one feature I wonder a little about on the DFA 150-450mm... is how will I handle low or mixed light stuff. It's wierd, I see peoples posts, but until I have to process the RAW files myself, there is just that shadow (pun definitely intended) of doubt.

Eric, love the 1st & 3rd photos. I will have to take some time to post some before & after shots taken under different conditions with the 150-450 lens to provide you some samples.

Well, here we are yet again, another shot taken late in the day, deep shadows in the foreground but there was some detail that could be pulled out with the "shadows" slider.

I have both. I used the 300 for several year before buying the 150-450, I now it well and I love it.
Yet it stayed in the bag since I bought the 150-450

A few low light samples:

1/60sec - f/6.3 - ISO6400 - 450mm

1/30sec - f/4.5 - ISO3200 - 220mm

1/13sec - f/6.3 - ISO1600 - 360mm

Then, when you do have the light...

1/250sec - f/7.1 - ISO1600 - 450mm

1/80sec - f/7.1 - ISO800 - 360mm

1/250sec - f/7.1 - ISO1600 - 450mm

1/1000sec - f/7.1 - ISO800 - 450mm

If you want to play with some RAWs, I can upload a few. The rainbow lorikeet shot was extremely underexposed, it's a nice shadow recovery example.
You can see a lot more birds pictures with the K1 & 150-450 in this gallery .

Sorry for your wallet, but that lens deserves it .
