Thanks for the suggestion WPRESTO, I may give it a try if the resolution doesn't fall apart... oddly enough, I liked the bubbly bokeh as much or more than the subject. I may be in the minority on that. I guess I am as probably stated before, a victim of the print age and always envision a photo as a print for wall hanging.

I imagine your way would make a more focused subject for quick viewing of a well defined subject, while I would argue my way, which intentionally includes the unopened buds in the focal plane and took some work to do so, would hopefully draw you in, and give a more interesting, fuller subject to examine on a wall for a longer period. Or people would just get nauseous looking at mine and keep on walking. LOL!

Personal taste is just exactly that. I tend to be a get-closer fill-the-frame, ruthless with cropping person, consequently I sometimes miss a wider view that is captured by my significant, who has a more artistic eye for bigger compositions. So looking at the image posted by you, I see what I would do, which isn't necessarily what you intended or want in the final image.

That falls into the general category that botanists call a "GDYC" = God d----d yellow composite.

Taken this morning with K1 + 200mm SMCA macro. A deep crop to salvage an interesting detail from an image that is otherwise not so great.

In August or 1959 a magnitude 7.2 earthquake struck just west of Yellowstone National Park. Minor effects of it were felt as far away as Hawaii and Puerto Rico. The quake caused a partial collapse of a mountain that blocked the Madison River in Montana. The debris from the landslide pushed across the valley and partially up the mountain on the other side. The blockage created Earthquake Lake. Land in the area subsided as much a 20 feet (6,5 meters).

This is what the area looks like 59 years later. In the foreground is Earthquake Lake. The hummocky land is the debris form the landslide. Somewhere in the debris field are the remains of 19 people who were in a campground at the base of the mountain. The velocity of wind generated by the slide was strong enough to throw a pickup truck through the air. Nine people were killed by being tossed the wind. The second shot is taken directly across from the landslide. Two shots stitched together.
