That is some kind of assassin bug. Look closely and you can see the long piercing "beak", looking almost like a leg because of its size and joints. It can be folded up against the abdomen where it fits into a groove. It is a "true bug" and belongs in a general group of insects that may be called Heteroptera (other names are sometimes used), more specifically in the family Reduviidae.

It was way to hot to walk around much during the day. You have to get your fitbit steps in sometime, it was cool enough in the evening to get out and get my daily average 14,000 steps.

I'm competing on the fitbit site with my 40 year old step son, today, I'm 4000 steps behind for the week. But, I stay at 185 pounds even with this level of exercise. I'd really like to get down to 169, after all, I'm just 5'9.5" tall, but that seems impossible.

I know that's an average hieght, but I was a basketball player, hence my belief that average is tiny. In my mind I will always be a very small person, based on years of playing sports against people who look more like trees than human beings. Not to mention that every male in my family, cousins, my son, nephews etc are all 6'2" and they called me "the runt". I know , I know I should get therapy.
