Went on Ebay last weekend and picked up a pentax F 70-210 f4 - f5.6 for £9.50 (around $12) it arrived today. It's just a 49mm filter size so I used my step ring , hood / Lenscap (49-37 + 37-30.5) the cap is actually a film canister lid.

You pay a lot to keep it for more than 10 years.

Way back, 15-20 years ago one of my old classmates made money out of the CoE scheme. He used to bid in the auctions to buy CoE regularly. When he secured one, by the tedious and slow process at the auction closing price he would then offer it for sale in the secondary market to people who would pay a premium to secure one quickly. He says he made quite a bit over a few years.

I think the system changes and that is no longer profitable. Also, these days he actually wants to own a car.
