The image looks a bit soft but this is mainly due to about a kilometre of salt spray between me and the surfer.
This image is posted as a shameless plug for the forum's Post-Processing challenge where you can have a go at making a successful image out of this if you are up to the challenge. The details can be found here if the challenge interests you:

Not done the PP Mini Challenge for ages! (a sign of my own lack of time and overwhelming busyness!), must get back to it some time! I miss it!
Originally posted by jabobby Holy tater tots, Eric that shot of the dragonfly is absolutely fantastic. With all the photos you posted so far with that lens I love the bokeh, but I did not expect to see such excellent IQ with stunning detail on a closeup photo. Guess I should have expected it after viewing so many really high quality portrait photos posted by others. Man, now that lens is on my wish list, along with the Irix thingy, the 100mm macro & the 70-200. If this keeps up I might have to come out of retirement...
Obviously you had good sun light for that shot...but I have to say...you made a fine shot there. BTW, there is no chance of my going back to work other than on the old farm here. The selection of lens that I now have is more than what I can keep up with, I certainly need to spend more time shooting with each of them. But it is nice to dream about the others...
. And some day some dreams will materialize.

Yeah I thought it was an excellent shot also.
For what it's worth I sold my DFA100/2.8 to help fund my FA77. I had another macro lens and thus I couldn't justify holding onto it. Other than the Macro and Weather Resistance, the DFA100 and FA77 are too similar from a portrait perspective (focal length wise), with the FA77 often taking the lead. My point, try and be like me, replace but don't add to the collection. See what you have and what is doubling up. Personally I wouldn't recommend the DFA100 and FA77 in someones collection (unless they are flush for cash). It's one or the other, decide which one matters more. Tough funds call for tough decisions
