I dunno, I still have heaps of images to process! Arghh the backlog!

A public speaking event I cover (this past weekend) allowed me to properly try out the FA77 for the first time;

But I also got to flex the old Takumar (Bayonet) 135/2.5!

With a fair amount of cropping, the FA77 Ltd can do an approximation of my DFA100WR's job... with a slightly different rendering.

Thank you.

That 40 has often been dismissed in the past as being too soft, but she seems adequate to the task here.
Sharp enough, colour rendering I'm finding tad on the cool side, but this should not be an issue for B&W "Street Photography" which was my intended usage.

All that glitters is not gold

Today's "Daily in September" shot. Pretty close up with the DFA 100 WR.

Bruce your point regarding lens selection is well made and taken to heart. Not long ago I purchased that old 645 A 120/4 macro to have fun with, and indeed I have. It is a task to manual focus but that is part of the fun. Besides I don't really do that much macro & the 24-70 and the 150-450 work pretty good. So actually the 100 macro is a weak dream.

Last week I put my old Takumar(bayonet) 135/2.5 lens in the car, intending to get out and shoot with a lens that I loved shooting with back in my early film days. As I read your post on lens duplication I thought of that lens in particular...and now you shocked me with your next post showing the excellent rendering by it. I have to get out of this "stuck in the farm work mode" and get out there shooting again. Now that I think about it, perhaps I do not really need the 77, except for the auto focus. Photography certainly is an awesome part of life to enjoy...thank you for the response & comments.
Best Regards, Bob

Superb shooting Eric. Glad to see the weather is in your favor to allow you to have fun with that lens & inspire me.

simple Tammy...superior images. Did not a great photographer say one time that it is not the camera or the lens, but the eye behind it that captures a good image.

And that's why I bought mine, for those instances where AF is really a must. I sold my Samyang 85/1.4, which imo (tho it is early days with the 77) can resolve better shots than the 77, to help fund the 77 purchase. The 85's size and lack of AF means shots are missed and you have to weigh up if that 15% increase in '3d pop' that the Sammy 85 can deliver is worth the lack of scenarios it can be used or shots missed. So i think it's a viable replacement.

Takumar delivers well! It does however render colours a bit odd, I spend more time in post correcting skin tones than I'd like. Perhaps I'll just make it my 'monochrome lens'
