Wow Bruce, you make that swirly lensbaby stuff look good! It is wild how it transitions from sharp to dreamy, and how it focuses your eye on the subject. Cool effect.

Eric
There's a bit of PS wizardy going on there to derive that sharpness of the tree. This is a 3 layered stack of shots taken at different apertures. The more stopped down the sharper things appear, so I chose to reveal the pink tree at the more stopped down aperture (f5.6 I think), with the edges being more blurry at f2.8. Each frame was also pixelshifted. If the image was all at f2.8 the pink tree would also be as silky blurry as the edges etc and not punch out quite to the same effect.
But alas this is kinda what's supposed to be done with this lens, it's meant for stacking, it was born for it!

Great shots Eric. Are you shooting raw or jpeg? My local camera guy suggested going back to jpeg but I don't see all the detail I do in a dng and the DR isn't as wide either.

Nice shot of the sandwich. Almost makes me wish I wasn't allergic to shellfish.

Thanks wtldwgn! I am shooting RAW but using DNG, NOT PEF, so as to be compatible no matter what software I use in future, and I have been using adobe ACR & CC15 for some time now. I can't warm up to silkypix, too set in my ways. I don't use any plug in's or effects, do most of my tweaking and convert to jpg is done in ACR, and only use CC15 photoshop to do final cropping and any remaining selective area tweaking that is too hard to do in ACR. I have a second SD card in the other slot and shoot RAW + JPG, and have yet in all my time to even look at the JPGs... the second card gets re-formatted along with the RAW card at the same time after I download them to my PC. LOL! Almost makes me wonder why I bother, all it does it prolly slow down my camera performance and load up my buffer faster.

When I made the jump from film to digital 11 years ago I immediately went to shooting dngs and never regretted it. I tried the jpegs this weekend and the burst rate doesn't slow down and the buffer doesn't fill nearly as fast. That said I'm back to dngs forever for the detail and DR. I also write dngs to both cards for backup.
