Originally posted by LeRolls The clothing brand I work for gave me their Sony A7III along with the Sony/Carl Zeiss 35 1.4 lens. Despite my prejudices against Sony cameras I actually quite like it. Not a fan of the ergonomics or the menu systems but the output is quite good as well as the advanced functions it provides. Since my Pentax 85 mm lens just died (was a good run) I will most likely be picking up the Sony 85 1.8 and be giving that sweet eye AF a try on my future shoots. I am also planning to pick up the Fujifilm X-T3 but mostly for video. If Pentax had actually released that rumored new 85 1.4 I probably would have just ordered that but since they are taking forever I will just give Sony and Fuji a try in the meantime.
P.S.
If anyone knows and can recommend a good place to send my FA 85mm for a possible repair just message me please. I believe the AF motors have gone bad.
I thought the FA85 was a mechanical screw drive lens? If it won't focus, try cleaning your contacts, and make sure the little flat head slot on the back of the lens isn't jammed with some gentle rocking.
I believe you could sent it to Eric Hendrickson for repair, he works on more of the vintage Pentax gear, including some screw drive stuff.
Home-Pentaxs Last I heard, he was training someone to take his place too... If anyone has any more current info, they could add to this. The other one I've used is Peachtreecamera out of Georiga
Peachtree Camera
Or, you could just send it to me for safe keeping
