Thanks WPRESTO! Yeah, I spotted this guy out of the corner of my eye... to be honest, at first I thought it was 2 bumble bees flying in tandem or something, but the pattern of flitting around and hovering got my attention, the flight pattern was very un-bee or butterfly like, and very hummingbird like. With that thick tail, it looks almost like a flying crayfish as much as a hummingbird, heh. I had a very brief 30 second session and then he was gone as fast as he appeared, and he didn't have any friends with him... I was in a bit of a shock, so I hung out a while (maybe half an hour, keeping myself busy with other pics) and kept still, and he came back just long enough for another very short session of less than a minute then he was gone for good, back into an area thick with Purple Firespike that I couldn't reach, but he seemed to like really well.

Originally posted by jabobby Congrats on the captures Mr. Tatorman. You did a fine job with that Tamy, look forward to more shots. Have about 15 inches of snow here now so doubt I will see any of those cute little buggers for some time. Really glad that you finally spotted them. Hope to get out tomorrow to do some capturing of the white stuff.
Best Regards, Bob
Thanks Bobby, the Tamron does OK, it was just a tad short for getting close to this guy, so I had to crop more than I like, that DFA150-450 sure does spoil a guy... and make's your biceps more buff for the ladies too. LOL!
Set your exposure comp to -.7 and have a ball with that white stuff, just remember to bundle up and get some nice gloves that let your shutter finger poke out.
