Charming bunch of kids.
Yes I discovered that I enjoy more photographing the people and the kids playing and watching rather than the event itself (it was some street theater event).

I like them both but I think I like the second one a bit more.

Here's a photo of Mr Lucian Olteanu at the same event, probably browsing through his shots. I like his work although I'm not sure if you can call it photography... you can take a look here.

Simple Pleasures

Cares not a jot, it's the way to be, as long as the frock matches the bike...

P.S. Ive just twigged what it is about this image I like... it has almost a Martin Parr (whom I had the pleasure of meeting recently) feel about it especially in the colour palette.

Not sure what it exactly is about this image but I surely like it
(the woman and bike complete the story I suppose)

It was just her apparent care free riding style... sort of a gentle weaving from side to side as she approached me, that caught my eye for this shot, the matching frock was just a lucky bonus.

I've gone nuts chasing those guys around a buddleia. I think the third image is most satisfactory because of the background around the moth = plain, not distracting.
Thanks WPRESTO! Yeah, I spotted this guy out of the corner of my eye... to be honest, at first I thought it was 2 bumble bees flying in tandem or something, but the pattern of flitting around and hovering got my attention, the flight pattern was very un-bee or butterfly like, and very hummingbird like. With that thick tail, it looks almost like a flying crayfish as much as a hummingbird, heh. I had a very brief 30 second session and then he was gone as fast as he appeared, and he didn't have any friends with him... I was in a bit of a shock, so I hung out a while (maybe half an hour, keeping myself busy with other pics) and kept still, and he came back just long enough for another very short session of less than a minute then he was gone for good, back into an area thick with Purple Firespike that I couldn't reach, but he seemed to like really well.

Congrats on the captures Mr. Tatorman. You did a fine job with that Tamy, look forward to more shots. Have about 15 inches of snow here now so doubt I will see any of those cute little buggers for some time. Really glad that you finally spotted them. Hope to get out tomorrow to do some capturing of the white stuff.

Best Regards, Bob
Thanks Bobby, the Tamron does OK, it was just a tad short for getting close to this guy, so I had to crop more than I like, that DFA150-450 sure does spoil a guy... and make's your biceps more buff for the ladies too. LOL! Set your exposure comp to -.7 and have a ball with that white stuff, just remember to bundle up and get some nice gloves that let your shutter finger poke out.
Eric

I wonder how they ever got the name "hummingbird moths." They never land fully, wings going constantly, and when they're not hovering and holding on to feed, their flight is really fast. That greenish body species looks like the same one that comes to our buddleia.

And this little guy was one of the things that entertained me while I waited for the HBM to come back.

A beauty to brighten an otherwise dull car park.
