And they say alcohol was a bad thing. I find myself browsing through older images often with a glass in my hand. Only rarely I find a great one, but yours is just that. A wonderful photo!

K1 Mkii impresses in low light

While the K1 Mkii may not be impressing DP Review ("2nd worst camera in 2018"!), its capabilities continue to impress me. I was doing a spot of night fishing with my son, it was quite dark, 10pm, out on a jetty, some street lights 400 yards behind us and a full moon rising in front of us. This photo was taken handheld at 1/5 sec, with the DFA 50 at f1.8 and ISO 12800. The AF found focus, the IBIS did its job and Lightroom cleaned up the noise quite well. I wasn't expecting much of a photo and I am blown away by the result. We didn't catch much but I took home a keeper from the K1.

K1 & 150-450mm
Here are few Pelican skimming shots. Place is Ranganathittu Karnataka India. In the same flight birds were going past both sunlit and shaded areas so I was using M mode(metered to sky).
This is fascinating series both as to content and aesthetics. Thanks for sharing.

I'm not RedBoomer, but I can say why I still look at DPR... I was a member there waaaaaay back in the early days, the sub forum for Pentax during the *ist days was a wonderful place to learn about the new Pentax DSLR's and lenses. People posted tons of pic's, and weren't so obsessed with spec. We had weekly challenges, great critiques, all kinds of positive and up-building activity. Some of those people still post there, and I am sentimental to stay in touch.

The front Home page on DPR is all you really need to avoid. They say people make the church, and that pretty much goes for any other group as well. The Pentax sub forum over on DPR, while not as active as in its heyday, is still to this day is more about the pictures than the equipment, and if you compare the amount of actual pics posted vs /gear talk to the other sub forums on DPR, you would find it paints a VERY different picture than what you read on the front page of DPR.

That's just my .02 cents, minus the tariffs.

"DPR" should be filterable with the rest of the curse words.

I liked it when Phil Askey ran the site, but I wouldn't know it still existed except for the occasional Google search or the incessant mentions around here.

And to keep on topic, here's a photo from the best camera ever made*.

Ha ! I'm sure you were one of those who harassed me when I posted there, saying it is not possible to do such photos with a Pentax camera...

Are you trying to make me buy an FA35mm ? Stop posting such great pics with it, will ya? I had my heart set on an FA43mm limited already to go with my FA77, and it is too close, darn it!

Harass? Me? NEVER!

Thanks Dick897! Sometimes I just don't want to take that 77 off the front of the camera. It is not the greatest landscape lens because it doesn't deal with harsh lighting well, but give me an overcast day when the slow zooms don't cut it, and the FA77 can make some magic.
