Testing the Default Settings

I have bought myself an original K1 body after finding one from a German dealer on the Amazon marketplace for £1149. Brand new, old stock. I considered the K1 II, but it's priced too high for me.

After upgrading the firmware, I went out to take the very first pictures with it. This is a JPEG OOC, no corrections whatsover, all settings on default. I think it might help to have one of England's finest gardens in the viewfinder, and to be pointing an FA31 at it, but if this level of IQ can still be improved upon by shooting RAW, then I am going to be spoilt.

I think the actual phrase is "ruined", enjoy that camera, it's a great bit of kit and I'm still using original K1's as the MkII didn't offer anything else I needed just now.

Good you got it now, when we know there is no import tax. Two weeks time we would not know!

Thank you, Kerrowdown. Do you have any recommendations for adjustments to the settings? The next thing on my list will be AF fine adjustment, but then what? I'll need to take many more pictures before I can judge whether any exposure adjustment is needed (my KS-2 needs -0.3EV) but that doesn't seem a chore

As I don't use AF I have no problems there... only the photographer gets the blame if the focus is missed...

I nearly always run my bodies at -0.7 as standard, unless I need to make any major exposure adjustments.

Ha, that was part of the argument to convince myself to buy now, then they announced that 87% of goods would be tariff free in a no-deal scenario. Hopefully photographic equipment won't go the same way as underpants, which will go up by 12%.

BTW, the dealer was Foto-Profi and there is still one left in stock, if anyone is interested.
