OK, now that first shot with the F50mm F1.7 is a real corker Frederic! The DOF you got out of that across all the pistol and stamens etc @F8 seems incredible! You would think it would have taken F22 or more.
It really gives it amazing clarity. Wow! That might be your best macro shot yet!
How did you do it this time? Ext tubes? Bellows? Reverse ring and stacks of stuff? DISH!!!

Oh, and nice squirrel shot. Almost makes up for those awful moon shots.

My "quilt study" efforts with a slide projection lens ... this is what you do when you are rained in at an arts & crafts fair.

Leitz Hektor 8.5cm f/2.5 mounted in a de-glassed and half body of a Helios 44-2 lens ... basically it's a M42 helicoid and this will focus to infinity. Here at MFD and wide open, since there is no aperture

Ruffed Grouse - We were worried about the lady. She's been with us off an on all winter and we've found the remains of two of her sisters, either wolf or fox kill. But she turned up today for the photo session.

The Blue Jay popped in for a peanut in the shell and left. I had no chance for an image.

I like the composition and the color, but not the sharpness (should have reduced the ISO to 200)

I think your problem here is not the ISO but perhaps misfocus. If you used AF it could be your camera/lens combo needs calibrating, or it could be simply a misfocus. I fould similar misfocusses recently when trying to capture close ups of brightly lit yellow flowers. LV was my saviour

Thanks for the tip...the uncropped version actually looks like this, I think I overcropped as well.

Broke my heat when I tossed mine some four years ago. When I retired in 2016 my wife got me a Sigma 300mm f2.8 as a retirement present to replace it, but I still miss my Tamron. It was my first purchase from B@H Photo in 1991. It is a great lens. Works great hand held too.

A few months ago I got a used 1.4x and 2x Sigma teleconverter. They seem to work well with the lens, but when mounted on my camera manual focus operation feels very gritty with either one. Autofocus operation is smooth. My Tamron 1.4x TC does not have this issue with the lens.
