Thanks for the tip...the uncropped version actually looks like this, I think I overcropped as well.
Unfortunately when you post a photo from your computer to this site (and many others, it is not just PF ) it downsizes it. If you want to show a full size image you will need to link to a site that hosts full size images such as Flickr, or link to a dropbox account.

You can only "overcrop" an image if you resize to beyond 100% view. Even then , as long as you are not going too far you can still get very acceptable pictures as long as you use appropriate software.

I would suggest trying the same picture again in both LV and viewfinder mode and compare.

I like the composition and the color, but not the sharpness (should have reduced the ISO to 200)
Don't worry about the focus, looks great anyway, an analogue vibe that I'm digging. Focus would have ruined it!

Playing with a new toy that came my way unexpectedly. Pentax-FA* 400mm. Here are shots uncropped and then cropped, both to show the power of this lens and also this camera.

Also, as a side note, I now have an even larger respect for wildlife photographers. I was struggling so hard to get anything living in the frame, haha.

Now that I've settled in Atlanta, I'm slowly starting to explore the local area for good photography opportunities. Here's the famous view from Jackson Bridge, featured in the Walking Dead season 1 poster
Shot with my trusty K-1 and DFA 28-105 in bulb mode (120s) last night.

Thank you for the kind words and upon further reflection I do like the softness and Green and yellow to me are quite organic.

Blooming Desert

Just a couple recent shots with the new 50 1.4. First shot is prickly poppy at f/16 to show as much detail as possible. Second shot is blooming creosote, ocotillo, and brittle bush on the far hillside.
