The New City Hall in Hannover

K1 and Tokina 3.5-4.5/20-35

A few from this afternoon.
As the name "New City Hall" indicates there is another one which is several centuries older ...

A building with quite an impressive lobby ...

In the lobby a few big displays (probably 4 x 5 meter) show the development of the city since the middle ages.
This one shows Hannover in 1939, just before WW II ...

... and this shows the level of damage 1945 ...

Nice photos. What lens? Is that first one a dipper?

Nice birds in flight. What lens did you use? I presume it was the 150-450, correct?
Sigma 500 f4.5. I have the 150-450 but a bit longer and bigger aperture is nice in this situation. Yes, it is a dipper.

I love this, but I am a little distracted as I'm looking and thinking "wait, the 43 isn't WR !"Great pic
Thanks Eric. Luckily, the 43 did not need to be WR for this image.

Fabulous image. So 3D looking. Curious what aperture was used? Some say the 43 looks most 3D between f1.9 - 3.5. But this image looks to have considerably more dof than f3.5 would provide.
Aperture is f16. There's a so-called 3D look that arises from de-focusing a background, which requires fast apertures. At narrower apertures you have to depend on side-lighting, depth of perspective, and the way the lens renders detail (i.e., in a natural way, not clinically or with hyper-acutance). You can get a kind of 3D look in landscape images (or at least a sense of depth and tactility) by combining limited lenses (and other Pentax lenses that render well) with side lighting and depth of perspective.

Another image from the FA 43, this time of boats in Woodley Island Marina:

Nice capture. I live just a few miles from Brooklands, always good photo-ops there.

Love the marina shot. Thx for the comments re "3D look". I have an FA43 which I'm looking forward to using on some fall color if the leaves turn colorful this year.

I know...and he never gets strokes or pats on the head. Never gets fed and always is bottom of the pack. Doesn't stop him jumping on our bed in the middle of the night and stretching out so I get no room though

Super capture. I really like cargo planes for some reason. Singularity of purpose perhaps.

yard weeds

Frederic, regarding that moon shot...
Nothing exciting here, just photos of weeds in the front yard, with some 24-70 semi macro shots.

Best Regards, Bob

Mamba909, F1.8 really blurs out the background. Nice portrait.
And that's why I love it so much. Here's another portrait at F1.8
