Thanks.

Here's one from Glacier NP, Swiftcurrent Lake shot with the F 17-28 FE:
Just spectacular that view, and well captured. Wish I was there (briefly, before the chill set in, then I want out, quick!)

Like both of those, Rondec. Shooting wading birds in bright sunlit is a challenge with the white-feathered egrets.

Like the first best although both are very nice. The DFA 150-450 is too big & heavy for me. I was out trying to catch big birds in flight early yesterday morn (b4 sunrise) with my light, compact FA*400. The eagle never showed but the GBH is always there at the lake. No.3447 not as sharp as I'd like & ISO 8000 a little noisy, but I like the composition & mood. No.3444 is sharp, but don't like the composition as much.

eaglem, you nailed focus on the catch light in the eye! Nice capture.
Your shots are majestic, I like the mood. Thanks for the kind words. The DFA150-450mm is a beastie, but every time I get home and pull up the RAW's from the K-1, I am reminded that it was worth all the aches and pains.

I am looking for a holster style case big enough to carry it with the K-1 attached. Think tank and one other company have ones that look like they would hold it, but I was hoping for at least a side pocket big enough to sneak in a FA Limited or two also. The search for the perfect camera bags is a life long obsession I guess. Heh.

Received the Pentax SMC FA 43 Limited about 2 hours before work. Took this on the way. Here's my 1st posted 43 image.
Thanks for looking,

I don't have the FA43mm yet, but do have the 31mm and 77mm... it's only a matter of time if I keep seeing shots like these. They say it is a huge step up in IQ from my old FA50mm, which I always found to be very good... it is always something isn't it?
Thanks for feeding my addiction and congrats on the new lens.

Thx, Eric. Its worth getting up @ zero-dark-30 to catch the foggy weather this time of year.

Good luck on your bag search-I had a Lowepro bag that holds my FA*400 attached to the K-1.

1) The walnut crop for Otis and his minions is coming along nicely.
2) Neighbor's maple tree putting on it's usual spectacular show.
3) Second crop of raspberries this year. Second crop is not always a sure thing. Not as plentiful as the first batch but enjoyed all the more because of that.

Yes George, that is the very body of water it is. Since I only live about 20 minutes drive from that I go there about 2 times a week in the spring and fall. The other day during a light rain the hollows had the steam or fog but I could not spot a scene that captured it well. But I will return in a day or two and perhaps see something different. Every time I go there I can hear that song "as long as the grass shall grow" and think about what it was like when I was a youngster. But that is progress and it is a very beautiful lake that thousands of tourists enjoy.
Best Regards, Bob
True, but it took 1/3 of their reservation and most of their farmland. Covers some burial grounds too. I understand their name for the lake. Reservations are supposed to be sovereign territory. I question the legality of it myself.

My ancestors settled in what is now Elk County PA near Wilcox in the mid to late 1840's. Came over from Germany and Belgium to escape the political unrest of the times My great grandfather was the first county manage of Elk County. There is a small Catholic Church in Rasselas that they donated the land for and their names are on some of the stained glass windows. I haven't visited it yet. I used to camp at Allegheny State Park in NY quite a bit in my younger days.

40,000 ISO? Incredible! Could you explain in more detail how you managed to reduce the noise so well?
Darktable, using the dtstyle.net - a darktable styles repository from one of the developers. It gets rid of chromatic noise very well without losing detail, but leaves luminous noise, white dots. I did a drawn mask around the bird and leaves, then blurred and darkened the background.

Out of camera raw had lots of detail to work with.

Love the yellow leaves against blue sky of image #1.
