Couple from this morning on my K-1 MKI. 150-450mm & 1.4x - 630mm hand held.

Bit of a misty morning but I think it adds something to the first shot.

I've only been out on a frozen lake once, and I was nervous the whole time. Can't get It's A Wonderful Life out of my head. Haha. Really pretty Ice bubbles!

Great landscape. Love the air trapped under the ice.

Thanks! Yeah, it can be nerve-wracking out there but I try to take a calculated approach and don't just rely on luck. We have an active wild ice skating community here and share knowledge on conditions and methods for testing ice strength before going out on it. In addition to that we wear flotation and carry spikes which can be used to pull yourself back on to the ice if you do go in. I have not done that yet but several of my friends have and one guy does it on purpose for practice every now and then. He's a hearty soul!

Geez, Matt, I'm getting tired of these mundane pictures. Couldn't you move to a more picturesque place, like maybe Kansas next door?

(not that there's anything wrong with KS)

Seriously, I always enjoy your superb pictures!

If I own a camera with weather sealing, I want to be sure to use it properly!
But seriously, thank you for the kind comment. I love this place and want to stay here forever. Hopefully I can pull that off!

I can imagine it's easy to enjoy!

I've been to Denver and Co. Springs on business several times. On one trip, our group of six flew in to Co. Springs on a Friday and stayed the weekend in Breckenridge (at our own expense, of course). Great time.

Love the near/far perspective & the air bubbles under the ice.

Very nice landscape shot. I've never been on the water there but have photographed all around there. Did you rent a house boat or did you kayak?

That's incredible, I've never even thought about that before but that makes sense to carry the gear. What an awesome hobby.

Once again, thanks for sharing a visual piece of it

You're welcome. The visuals are cool but so are the sounds! Check out this little video I made last year and turn the sound up.
